Indy, I for one appreciate everything you post. Good or bad, all I want is the truth that is going on behind the scenes and I know things change and are in constant flux. I actually seek out you and several other insiders posts for information. Most everything else is dribble. The fact that people give you crap or DM you crap boggles my mind.Here’s what I’ll say … You don’t have to agree with my posts … You don’t have to like my posts … But I post the raw, unfiltered truth from multiple angles (donors, current players, former players, coaches, other coaches, agents, etc.) … Not through orange and blue glasses …
It may not always be the popular take or make people happy but it’s the truth in many cases or how I see it in others … And if that gets people fired up then so be it …
Personally - I think I give credit where it’s due and criticism where it’s fair … I support our programs and coaches until I am unable to stand behind them anymore and see changes that need to be made and I voice my opinion based around the facts I know and the information I’ve received …
As others have mentioned … The DMs not only this week but this past year for myself have been absolutely ridiculous and I can understand why many on here may decide to be done and take a break …
Tying culture and bags of money arguments together...teams that will have sustainable success will have a culture of trust that enables them to get players (i almost showed my age and called them student athletes) at a discount versus paying a premium. We are the latter currently, it seems, while the PUs and MSUs of the world are the former.
Izzo being masterclass has high respect for all the weak coaches in B1G Bruce, Brad etc. That's how he trives...
It sounds like we get the last visit for Dix which is good- I would have to think his camp would be a little skeptical about committing to Kansas this early given you know they are going to get other high priced guys and recruit over you- AJ Storr should be a cautionary tale for him
The other benefit of we do land Dix is we can hopefully keep a guy like Ty on the team, we don’t have to have everyone be a shooter - Kylan and Dix would be a great backcourt, Tomi is a 3 point shooter so Ty can get 20-25 minutes at multiple positions. Keeping Ty and Jake for continuity I think will be really important and they can both get minutes next year
I didn’t think Izzo had much use for Underwood when he first came to Champaign . Their relationship seemed to change with Coaches for Cancer.
This is called sunk cost fallacy. Once Brad realized how much of a bum Humrichous was against actual competition, no reason to play him. How much money we wasted on him in the off-season shouldnt matter at all. It's like continuing to hold a loser stock, just because you remember how high a price you paid for it, all the while it continues to go in the red and lose you money.
The fact that the staff decided to keep playing him, at the expense of the Morez relationship (even if his camp ended up acting shady at the end of the year when apparently we had resolved the issue) is a total and complete fumbling of the situation.
This is not how Big Boy programs operate, sorry.
I think the solution to the portal madness is for the NCAA to go back to the sit out 1 year transfer rule with 0 exceptions except a Head Coaching change.
I don’t know how they implement it, but it would fix most problems immediately.
Isn’t it also odd that for years the NCAA had basic eligibility requirements like passing an ACT, or sliding scale GPA, and now basically anyone is admitted to college regardless of transcripts…no Prop 48s. Nothing. How did the NCAA get to this point?

I'd imagine (from what's out there) that IL is looking more into Dix/Sarr than Catchings/Hall.
Conwell's interesting. Sean's at UT, but the market will be on that guy. Uncertain but time will tell how involved Illinois is. He and Dix are among best available IMO.

An Arizona 247 writer says it's more likely that Sarr skips the college game altogether and goes straight into the NBA draft. The hits just keep on coming!
I think this is a case of two things can be true. 1) NIL/Portal means more player movement than ever. 2) Illinois appears to have a culture/coaching issue leading to some transfers.
I trust Josh to figure out if there are any internal issues causing the seemingly high rate of transfers each year and require any needed changes. I don't give blind trust to Brad because the program has won more games than they have lost (and totally understand why donors would be concerned). There are lots of red flags the last few years and at some point you have to stop blaming the players and look deeper (if nothing else to give everyone peace of mind).

I was thinking about this last night as well. Maybe your first transfer is a freebie (no sit out). Any subsequent transfers require a sit out year except for coaching changes/grad transfer/harship (not sure on this one because the NCAA has proven to have no consistency with that previously).

Isn’t Ty perfect for cutting and Big T’s passing abilities. I would think that would fit like a glove with a spaced out floor.

Hiring an immediate family member within the same unit through a non-competitive or conflicted search process is strongly discouraged, and the hire might not be approved by the appropriate HR office.
While there are holes in the policy, clearly it is strongly discouraged and it requires special approval.
I also believe that the highly visible and public men’s basketball program should represent the school’s policies with high integrity. Opposing a strongly discouraged policy is a poor representation. Frankly it is a bad look for Brad and Josh.
If I were a UI employee and not able to acquire the same approval I would want to know what makes the men’s basketball program special. I would guess that Brad/Tyler situation is causing issues across the university, not just the basketball team.
