I’ve been against the amount of money for him this whole time. Could use it much more wisely on other player(s) it’s going be a huge mistake to tie up that much money in Dix.
Take that money and go get Jarron Pierre or Lindenburg! Or that 6"8 D2 kid elyjah

Those spots are for Jake Davis, Ben (if he returns), AJ Redd, and the two freshmen (as I don't expect either of them will have nearly as major a role as Morez or Will Riley). We're actually a bit unusual in how few walk-ons we have, as most teams in the conference have at least 3.
Walk-ons now count for one of fifteen roster spots. They are a dying breed.

So it seems like dejavu. We set our sights on a player, get to the finish line but before we can cross it another school comes in and swoops them away. Are others schools just using us as headhunters to spotlight top players for them to focus their attention on. Seems like we are doing all the ground work and they are waiting for Brad to highlight them so they can come in for the steal. This is getting old fast. Just once I would like to hear about a top player leaning somewhere else and then we take them away.

Regarding Dix if the asking price is getting to high then nab Storr at a reduced price and then go after Anthony Roy.
I dunno.
I think we beat Wisky last year because Storr quit.
How'd he really do at Kansas? I haven't heard much positive.
IMO we will have enough team building to do without Storr

I would be pleasantly surprised if we got him at this point. The Illini generally don't win drawn-out transfer competitions.
Two reasons for this occur to me.
1. They will not pay asking if he does not have huge potential to fit in and lift the team.
2. They will not be owned by greed.

Kinda depends how you want to play, but I like the fit here.

Reminds me a bit of Jamison Battle. Shotmaker you have to stay jersey-tight to for 40 minutes, that really strains a defense when you play with space and tempo.
I agree with you. The fit here is very good if we are going to play fast and shoot 30 threes on average per game.

I think we are tending to overrate Dix. If we get him fine, but he’s replaceable.

Storr was a one-way guy for Kansas: willing to play offense, but uninterested in the defensive end of the floor. He was unplayable for that reason at Kansas. I don't see Storr as an everyday guy.

Call us the Toronto Blue Jays

If the price gets too high, who's the next best shooter on the radar that would be a target? Really feels like we need a true-blue knockdown shooter.
That's the magic question.
Last year, Humrichous and Davis fit those roles.
I am just hoping we get shooters that aren't one-trick ponies on O, and solid on D,
and hopefully can be in the starting lineup.
Not too much to ask, is it?

I wonder if Josh's camp will feel staff's questioning his asking price and strike while the iron is hot. It seems there are 2 ways to play it, commit early while wild numbers and budgets are more open or wait until the bitter end when teams will pay desperation prices.

Sometimes prices get inflated simply because there are not many other options that provide the same qualities. Yes there are lots of great players in the portal, but is there anyone we could get that provides Dix's ability to score efficiently at all three levels against high major competition? Is there anyone else even close? Sometimes an overpay is justified and I think this could be one of those times.

Will Riley was a 5-star, top 20 recruit.

Lee and Wagler are ranked #94 and #145 in the 247 composite.

I don't agree with the sentiment that HS recruiting is pointless, but I don't think you shouldnt be expecting an immediate impact from guys like Lee and Wagler. They are likely aware of that.
What is up with people's infatuation on this board with Storr? We successfully dodged the bullet once already, but people are keen to chase it? Why, so we can get hit but hopefully tough it out?
Agree, but you still need to recruit high school and some yearly, If for no other reason than building relationships with coaches and players that can pay off big in the future.
