Keep an eye on a portal power forward that should enter in the coming days.

Big Z/Tomi announcement should be soon.

They are hoping for Sarr plus one more euro.

Looking to add a big money guard/wing in the portal-will have more on who that could be in the coming days.

Two depth pieces in the portal as well.

They are being a bit more tight lipped this year, but targets will start to emerge again.

Great baseline to work with with Kylan, Tomi, Z (should be soon), and Ty. They will get dudes around those guys and next year will be fun. Gotta stay patient, better days ahead.
I think with Tomi And Z everything else falls into place. And you do realize that every time you take a potty break this site melts down?

The portal doesn’t work like video game free agency. Don’t expect it to. I’m thrilled to be keeping Bam and Ty. Would love Big Z to commit soon though, even if Tomi declares for draft/remains eligible to return.
It is so interesting how these young people act so down to earth. I can’t imagine making a million dollars when I was 20 years old. Heck, I can’t imagine it now.
I suppose they share the money with their families but seems like it would not be far fetched to see one of our players driving Green St. in a Maserati. Surprised that has not happened on a campus somewhere.

Are the athletes told to not display their wealth?

I don't like nor dislike AJ Storr. But when you shoot 15-20 shots per game to get your 16pts..
No thank you. Now what makes us believe he will not do what he did at Wisconsin by jacking up Jordan or Kobe shot totals. He is not them. This year each game we had 1 or 2 players throwing up tons of shot for little efficient stats. Didn't we lose 13 or 14 games. Things have got to change with our offense and defensive game plan. I hope we get some ballers that can play to the Illini way, that coach Underwood developed the past years.
This year was hard to watch and stomach. I get injuries, sickness, etc.. Coaching and Culture are huge.
I do not want Storrs in our uniform.

I find it useful to frame the discussion, but yeah, people kinda keep falling for the same thing over and over again.
I don't think it's even really "falling for" anything so much as misunderstanding the situation. People treat those hints like gospel rather than just intel subject to the usual uncertainties associated with games of telephone.

I agree. His rebounding, hustle and defense improved significantly the last 10 games. Continuity is important to culture so keeping Ben and Jake is important. Also keeps with "get old stay old" mantra.

Once he realized he did not have to launch a 3 pointer every time he touches the ball he added more value. He was passable guarding 5's when Tomas needed a break and Morez was injured. I also think working with Fletch will improve his strength and athleticism. I suspect the game will slow down for him next year and he will be a more effective shooter.

He will never be a great defender but if he uses his size and continues strong effort I think he is playable. I like him as spot starter and 15-20 mpg off bench. I think he realizes he is not NBA bound and may just be enjoying another year in college at a good P4 program
He was brought in as a 3-pt specialist, was paid handsomely, and shot 34% from three. He had 4 games where he was at least 0-3 from 3. And one game where he was 0-7. Somebody cue Brad's *fart noise*

By the insiders on this site? Or by the people the insiders are getting their info from?

Ragging on a kid who clearly gave 100% in games and in practice and just has physical limitations that limited him at this level is so silly.

Interesting portal addition. May be staying out west though.

Just go get someone like that. And I'm not circling in on one guy - there's a guy at Sam Houston too, there's a guy at Green Bay too....Endless. A guard/wing that's a proven scorer - there's NUMEROUS of them. If I were to list them all it'd be an essay.

It ain't that hard. The fact that we can't even nab one just points to a problem - whether that's money, recruiting strategy, whatever.

You're either a good player or you aren't. With NIL these guys are getting paid LOTS of money. Give me a break with the "stop ragging on the kid" nonsense

IMO the 3-pt shooting being 34% isn't the worst thing in the world because he's still stretching the floor. The major issue with Ben was the 2-pt shooting. His overall FG% was 37%. That is abysmal. The next worst FG% for a regular player on our squad was Jake Davis at 41%.

At least one of the biggest Illini haters of all time is finally gone from the airwaves. That render's the tournament loss and the pending transfer's just a teensy less painful!

You should be upset at the coaching staff for not properly evaluating whether his skills will translate at the Big 10 level. Not the kid. If your concern is about people being overpaid, start with who gets paid the most.
