My main question right now is: where is the money that we would have given to Josh Dix going now?

Presumably not Storr - he’s been pitched as a bargain this year.

Has Sarr’s price gone up enough that he would be the answer to my question?

I wouldn’t think Mirkovic would be as too crazy expensive. Maybe similar to what we would have given Sellers?

this current set of players plus the 4 they add - assuming sarr, storr (mixed bag), Mirkovic (hard to project) , and someone else, this is just not athletic enough. we need more athletes and it was a problem this year. if thats the current group of players and storr doesnt play like he did at wisco the team looks pretty average at best...
Ty is certainly an athlete and Tomi’s brother is a bit better of an athlete from what I’ve seen. Sarr would also make us more athletic.

Another portal pivot. And yeah Mirkovic will be paid pretty well if he comes but around what Sellers would have made.

He certainly helps and is the right profile to compliment them, but you can't hide two guys from coverage against speedy little guards in a defensive scheme with drop coverage and the like.

Z is the better rim protector, he'll be in the "center" role. That's going to put Tomi in challenging situations against quicker players we were able to protect him from this year.
Brad should play some zone next year.

C'mon really?!?! 🤣 I get hating Storr based on him doing nothing at Kansas but him and Humrichous aren't in the same stratosphere in ability.

No one on Kansas cared last season. Self included. I don't have ages of their starting lineup this past season but it was like 22-23-24-24-24....it really put a hole in vet teams are better. Was a freaking lifeless group.

Storr can handle the ball and get to the hoop. And get his own shot.

If you get Storr....hes got to be a primary option or his usefulness isn't much. But we have a glaring need for athletes that can get their own shot and get to the rim.

My favorite line about Jen’s Kujawa - was when Dickie V had us #2 in his preseason rankings for 1988-1989. Lou said “How can you have us that high, did you know we lost our starting center Jens Kujawa who’s playing overseas?” Dickie V said “Lou, if I knew that I would have had you #1!”
Jens was a smart cookie though. In my calculus class my freshman year.

He also slammed over David Williams in a pickup game at impe. I ran. David went for the block.

9 straight Sweet 16 appearances before this year.
That streak doesn’t happen without always getting a top 5 seed every year avoiding conference losses every year. They lose to Oregon St and and Santa Clara and get swept my Saint Marys this year and get a 8 seed. I would have put them at a 6/7 seed but this is what happens when you play in a real conference.

All good players . . . Could we use some players with more bulk?

they need a high flyer PF that can shoot and rebound like QG..

Id guess you use Mirkovic as a booty ball 4 and have T/Z stand around the 3...

him and tomi seem to be a pretty slow frontcourt though, no clue how that works defensively but with hamer running the D it wont be good regardless.

We could all crowdfund Flagg to transfer here. $1000 an Illini fan nationwide should get it done.

would be a stud addition if they can pull it off.
Agreed- I got excited about the potential of him last year, he would be the alpha high volume scorer we needed. All of his shooting %’s dropped from the previous year, but he’s still someone you can build an offense around and he can be a good defender at times

I don’t think folks realize how highly regarded Mirkovic is 🔶🔷
He would be an upgrade over Ben and Inthink that is how we have to look at it- he’s a good shooter, can play in the post a bit, he’s bigger/tougher than Ben and a better rebounder so if he’s playing that role and Ben doesn’t come back - I’m happy with that trade and Mirkovic obviously has a lot more upside

Show of hands… how many of you here have formed an opinion on Zach Hamer through first hand experience and inside knowledge of his capabilities and how many of you are just doing a junior high school style parroting of one vocal but influential person who seems to have an irrational, personal hatred for the guy and the way he dresses.

Look… I haven’t been happy with Illinois’ defense these past two years and if that’s all on the shoulders of Hamer he needs to either get better or go. But dear God… the juvenile name calling and constant sniping is bordering on Todd Goldin-level creepy.

Hamer shouldn't be getting hate for taking a position and trying to do his best. I'm usually a Brad-stan, but Brad is responsible for this situation, and he should be the one getting the blow back.
