Are you thinking of a different player?

Mirkovic is 19 and the league he's been playing in is a top professional league (grown men) that's seen a lot of NBA talent come through it. Meaning younger players, I feel like the EuroLeague is where most ex-NBA guys end up, but this league is full of ex-college stars... they just played against a team with a guy who averaged 25ppg in the ACC a few years ago (Anthony Barber)
Where are you getting your info? Anthony Barber does not ag in the ABA. He's at Sporting CP in Portugal.

I was looking at the NBA rookie salary scale this morning and it strikes me that if you are not a top 10 pick (maybe even higher) that it is basically breakeven in college if you can get paid over $2m per year. Now I know that is not guaranteed multi-year but it gave me hope that Riley could be back if he is around #20/25 in the first round. Another year to grow and get bigger, enjoy college vs the demands of the NBA and move up to top 10. My point is that with NIL, the NBA is not as clear cut any more. If it were my son I think I would be 50/50 on the options depending on training and plan a college coach offers my son.
This is where I am on this.

Seems he is leading the ABA in scoring average this season?

Different Anthony Barber? idk 🤷‍♂️

EDIT: Google AI told me Sporting CP is a soccer team?

AI Overview
No, Sporting CP (Sporting Clube de Portugal) is a Portuguese football club, not an American Basketball Association (ABA) team; they play in the Primeira Liga, the top division of Portuguese football.

AI Overview
Yes, Anthony Barber plays in the ABA League, having signed with Cibona of the Croatian League and the ABA League on September 6, 2024.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Team:
Anthony Barber currently plays for Cibona, a team that competes in both the Croatian League and the ABA League.
  • ABA League:
The ABA League is a regional basketball league that includes teams from countries like Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, and others.

A lot of these European club teams have both soccer and basketball. Ex. FC Barcelona etc…

I'm seeing that now too

So confusing

Anyway it looks like Barber played in the ABA for about 3 months, led the league in scoring, then early December 2024 signed with this other team/league in Portugal

A lot of these X accounts are just taking information from this board and tweeting them like they are plugged in.
I would change a lot to all of them. Not a single one of these X accounts have anything to back their bold statements up with

I'm curious who will be this year's Humrichous, unless that was big Z...or it is just Humrichous again.

Lol I won't feel too bad about it

Guy did play ABA this season and led the league in scoring

The person who nitpicked that I was off by a couple months posted an 8 1/2 year old article yesterday in reply to another post I'd made re: Mirkovic 😁

He could also blow his knee or his achilles out and with his already questionable measurements and athleticism....be drafted 58th or not be drafted and playing in Turkey for the foreseeable future.

With the type of money that's flying around, even later in the first round, you don't mess with it. As fans, it's easy to play with roulette with somebody else's money.

Soooo, where does TY fit in if the Illini get Storr? Sarr? Thiero doesn’t affect his position, right? (I’m at my granddaughter’s State tumbling meet with hundreds of kids, and my mind isn’t working very well).
Very long way yet to go for the full roster, but if I were to prognosticate Ty adds us just so much flexibility and better than average defense in playing guard or forward that I see him as likely an at worst "6th starter" on our future team getting at least 20mpg almost regardless of who we eventually bring in. Need a physical defensive guard who can crash the boards? Ty. Need someone who can guard a quicker PF that is causing Tomi or Z issues? Ty. Need someone to give your 4 a rest? Ty. He should in theory play a lot this year simply because you can flex him in in multiple positions for multiple players and get matchup value. And that's under the assumption he hasn't found a jumper or a bootyball game yet. If he has? He's likely going to be tough to get off the court.

As for individual players, I actually think he pairs with Storr quite well as Storr takes a lot of shots while pulling defense to him, and that opens up Ty to be a menace on the boards. As well, you're going to need a better defender on the floor to cover Storr's at times defensive uhhhhhh we'll call it ambivalence if not apathy. Sarr's agressiveness and defense I think also plays really with Ty as he attracts a lot of attention, freeing Ty up, and as well, both him and Ty are good off ball movers and cutters and I think both have the vision to find each other for easy buckets. Thiero I think is the toughest pairing with Ty as I think that they could work together on physical, fist fight, crash the boards type team, but to play them together, you almost have to play Ty exclusively as guard, which is fine but I'd see that cutting down on his possible playing time. Those are my thoughts, but I see Ty being a very big part of our team next year.

It's also generational type money that comes with a multi year contract. He can deal with playing basketball and the 6 month "grind". Plus, that's a real job? Are you kidding? MOST people will be up before 6AM tomorrow morning, getting ready for a "real job, and they'll be doing that 5 days a week, 4 weeks a month and 12 months a year.

It sounds crazy(especially for the young people on this board), but 2M isn't that much in the grand scheme of things, especially at 18.

If he has a major injury at the SFC, playing Eastern Illinois, that free campus living is going to be a ridiculous rationale and then his real job will either be in Turkey or China, then behind a desk.

I've been looking at the board for a few days. I'm surprised that so many think Will Riley is coming back. Even if his measurements aren't the best, he reclassed to get the the NBA as soon as possible. He didn't have the best last game, but I don't see a scenario where he comes back to college. I think he will be a top 25 pick.
He could come back one year, which is actually his normal matriculation class and be stronger and more skilled. Now he is looking at Lottery potential.

Plus, I guess the rumor is that Terrence came back and told the players do not commit to the NBA only to end up in the G League. He basically said the G League sucks.

Ty's offense rebounding prowess does pair well with Storr's shot missing ability.
