mr. johnson jr could be another " 4 teams in 4 years nomad traveller ".........since he basically burned all bridges related to the Illini I absolutely don't care if scUM treats him fairly or not...............I really really don't.......
I don't either. I'd rather play for a coach that says "I need to do whats best for my team and our players play to thier strengths. You are not a shooter or a good free throw shooter. So you won't be in the games down the stretch or jacking 3s until you show me in practice!" Coaches need to do whats best for the team first. Rez and Ty are not shooters and to lie to them or to let them jack up 3s or shots when they can't even hit FTs at a decent clip isn't whats best for the team.

Sorry, going to Michigan renders all else immaterial. He should get the treatmeint commensurate with any Michigan player, and if some want to add on for the way he left, so be it.

You want to leave and still be loved, go to say West Virginia or Kansas State. Perhaps with a note about never playing for another Big Ten team. Even Chester did that, on the coaching front. I'll also say that you can go to another Big Ten school and still be respected if you play hard and show the class you had here (Luke). But a big middle finger and a ride to Ann Arbor? Nope, let him hear it.
I think it's amusing SCUM recruited over him in the first week or so! He won't be shooting threes there either!

I'm just hoping Calipari isn't recruiting Orlando.

As someone else mentioned, it's not necessarily the fairness at play, but whether it is a collectively bargained for fairness. Just seems impossible for there to ever be a collective bargaining agreement since the pool of players changes every few years, so the law is just going to let it remain in this terrible state.
Also, how can you collectively bargain third party contracts? The NIL contracts are not with NCAA institutions. Professional sports collective bargaining is for the salary paid by the teams, not endorsements or side gigs. By kicking the can down the road all of those years, the NCAA has truly arrived at about the worst system imaginable - total chaos.

He would be awesome, UNC was a bit of a mess this year but he can play- former top 10 recruit and can shoot he would do great next to Boswell. I can see him making a leap his sophomore year

With the OA connection, hopefully we get a shot
St John's heavily rumored

I just hate the thought of Morez coming back to SFC next season and getting the Skyy treatment x100, perhaps based on an inflated and/or inaccurate narrative that has formed about why he left. It would have helped if he had attempted some sort of statement to the fanbase. Losing a fan favorite (certainly one of my favorites) in this way, and to Michigan, and without any sort of explanation or closure just really leaves a bad taste.
Maybe you can take solace in the fact that Illinois fans won't be alone in that there will be booing towards former players that play as opponents. I don't see this changing across the sports landscape any time soon. What has always worked for me is rooting for the front of the jersey and not the back of the jersey.

What is the definition of an athlete? Just watch any of the final four teams' players and you will see the agility, quickness, and explosiveness of their players that we were mostly lacking this year. Also, these teams played tough defense.
Fair enough, I guess my definition would be a plus athlete for their position at the power conference level. That includes size/strength and explosiveness.

But yes I agree with you, this years team was drastically lasting in comparison to the true top end team.

I think Ty can bring a lot of that but he isn't super explosive, and Boswell is strong but not overly quick. Zvonimir will bring some length and shot blocking and the other euro does at least look strong.

My wishlist to fill out the roster to complement those guys would be 3 lengthy wing/guard types that are explosive and can switch and matchup 1-4 with at least one of them being able to create their own shot.

He is certainly a freak athlete though not necessarily the most efficient scorer.

If the juco years don't count does he have 2 more years of eligibility left then? COVID year with Kansas, medical redshirt with DePaul, sat out a year assuming for medical reasons, then played 2 years at Grand Canyon. Dude could be like a 27 year old senior.

He turns 26 in March and I believe you’re correct … He’d have 2 years …

I can't imagine Jackson suiting up for the O&B, but it would be an insanely good addition. He struggled a lot this year, but Davis is a flat-out terrible coach. I don't fully fault Ian for his rough season. (And yes, I watched a TON of Carolina basketball. I have family in NC, so I'm a fan of the Heels when they're not playing The Beloved.)

Again, I can't see a world where Illinois lands him, but if OA can work his magic, I guess you never know.
His stats look good. In what way did he struggle. Just curios
