Shame on all of you. I am the only person to like a Leave it to Beaver gif?!

I'm going to chalk this up to it still being before noon. But this is a pretty sad display. This board needs to do better.
Frankly I was half-expecting this to kick off a bunch of Beaver jokes, so was keeping quiet.

this is a Dix type of board. We can only focus on one body part with our puns and innuendos.

All things considered though, I'd be willing to make this swap

If St. John’s is such a great destination for a shooting guard why did RJ Luis leave and enter the transfer portal?
Maybe he knew Jackson was likely coming in. St John's was his leader before UNC swooped in so it looks like they're gonna get him on the rebound. And its another Big East school with no football program so the basketball team is gonna get a good chunk of the revenue sharing after the house settlement.

The $ in the bank set aside for Will Riley and / or Dame Sarr presents challenges.

Tough to compete for top tier guys asking $3m+ and Illinois won’t overpay for second/third tier guys.
Well if they can't offer that money to anyone but Will and Dame, why even bother with contacting top portal guys? At some point, don't they have to tell Will and Dame that they need to land some big fish. It's their money if they want it, but the staff can't be held hostage waiting for them.

With regards to Riley, it's comical that we set aside this money for a dream.

Please expand on the challenges it presents. Do you mean it’s a challenge that it’s earmarked for one of the two, but it gets unspent if we get neither?

If Ian Jackson is St. John's bound (which was the immediate most likely destination for him) then filling in the SG, SF positions with:

Sarr, Storr and Coward would be a very nice rotation - Sarr is 6'7.5" Storr is 6'7" and Coward is 6'6" would give us the length and athleticism to guard the perimeter and Sarr and Coward's 3pt shooting I'm very high on.

Are we now back to, let's get Storr and Malik Moore locked in, so we can go after the big fish, who's decisions likely won't be until May? Even getting Coward committed knowing he's going through the draft process would be ideal in my mind - I think his chances of coming back for a year are high.

I think overpaying for 2nd tier guys is just the game these days - I would think if Will or Sarr are ready to commit we can always go to donors specifically to fund them coming back and we could find the money. I don't think keeping it "in reserve" makes a lot of sense from a strategy perspective. Plus the revenue sharing money is coming and I assume that will be $3-5M for rev share for basketball for us - that would fund Will or Sarr coming and we're not getting both of them, obviously. So - we should be spending all of our NIL now I would think.

It’s somewhat prohibitive when you’re trying to compete for a dude like Ian Jackson. At some point in that bidding Illinois has to fold rather than call.
That is what I don't fully understand - given we're looking to fill
Transfer SG
Backup Guard
Will/Sarr - which we'll have to wait for - but we'll have the Revenue sharing dollars to pay for whoever this ends up being

Why wouldn't we spend all of our NIL money on a guy like Ian Jackson? If it's only because we don't want to loose the backup guard we were targeting, that seems foolish - just get a cheaper backup guard, no? I don't know what other SG we're going to spend money on right now - otherwise we start the year not maxing out on NIL dollars which seems highly likely - given we're not in on any of the big fish right now
