Always seemed like an every day guy to me. And while he did leave, he did so much more graciously than some others have. Plus there’s something about getting a starter back from a 1 seed (Ace) and an elite eight team (Ty) that I like
hmmmm.......did he really ????..........seems like I remember him leaving us without notifying anyone that he was leaving....I also remember his leaving was with a lot of chatter from family members on the negative nature towards the Illini program....I could be wrong but there was some animosity there......

If he comes back and it's thinking he will start ??....then I give that a big NO.............if he's ok as an off the bench player then I WOULD say MAYBE........

a lot depends , to me , on what other additions we could get.....I watched 8-10 games he played in while at LSU and ASU and nothing he did stood out to me as noteworthy......and I don't think he would be viable as a PG backup in the B$G.......

if BU think's he would be a good roster fit then maybe it would work..........JMHO.......

Are you kidding? With everything that's going on in college sports, you're going to try to find an angle where there's a moral high ground?

If we're 22-13 again, you'll be one of the people who'll want our entire program flipped on its ear, but hey.....we stood strong on a transfer situation.....4(??) years ago??? Stop.

IF IF IF he can shoot it coming off the bench, that's a huge upgrade. We lacked that badly, especially at the guard position. Actually, we lacked shooters at every position. Immediate take IMO.

Anyone find a box score of the Nike world hoop summit from last night?

Adam didn’t tarnish our name. He’s been respectful and supportive of this program and his former teammates ever since he left. This isn’t some kid who we have to worry about with his family about playing time and where he projects in the program. He is a 23 year old man now and this is the end of the road for him in college basketball. His parents/family/camp has no leverage to cause a fuss whatsoever. If he wants to come here and play in whatever role he earns, that’s absolutely fantastic, and I’ll be very glad to have him back.

100% agree. I was searching for a way to express that and you did it better than I could.

So we are ignoring the fact that Ace shot 43% last year from 3? Nice.
I don’t think most are ignoring that at all. Certainly have to question though whether he’d be OK coming off the bench given he’s started 96.5% of the college games he’s appeared in. And if he’s going to start, is a 10 ppg guy enough from that spot given how team is shaping up?

Therfore all transfers shed less than a favorable light on their previous programs. Correct?
I don't think all transfers are highly recruited freshman that play a significant role for a highly successful team. That makes people wonder what was going on in the program that would make a player want to leave.

Taken in a vacuum, I don’t mind Ace coming back. He’s a good high major starter.

But if taking him makes it much harder to also get someone like Cedric Coward - who I think would have a better chance of being a star that could put you in a different tier as a team, then I’m less excited about it.

But I don’t know whether that’s actually the situation, or what our chances actually are of landing someone like Coward, so I don’t know how to feel 🤷‍♂️

If you're a freshman starter on a high D1 program, you're also highly recruited.
There are thousands of players in the portal. And therfore, thousands of reasons.

I totally agree here. You get the best players you can that fit the mold of your system.
If that player happens to be former Illini, I think that should not be a factor.
Few of us actually know any of the real details of why a player would or would not transfer.

It shouldn’t affect Coward at all- he would be a starter at the 3/4 and require 7 figures. Miller should be an affordable rotational G

Agree. Just hard to envision him helping the team win borderline games. Perhaps if he had lockdown D skills.

Soft pass for me. Obviously I trust the staff and don’t take myself too seriously on this.

Miller was actually a plus defender especially as a true freshman. He's not the biggest two guard but he played tough D. Don't know if that's held up but with more experience under his belt I would expect him not to be able to be a reliable guy on that end.

Only way I don't see it happening is if the staff says no, we will see what happens. Decent chance he comes back is all I am going to say.
I don’t hate it but don’t love it. Seems like this just prefills the portal paperwork for our incoming freshman as the chances of them being lost on the bench go up significantly. I just miss the days when we got to see freshman become sophomores.
