KJ and Will will be 1st nba round picks. Not sure if Sarr goes to Duke he will get enough playing time to be first round. Sarr might be best player on Illini. Could be 5th best at Duke

KJ and Will can vouch for this.

2+ mil for Will and 2.5 mil for Sarr? Is that the same money and Illinois hopes to get 1 of the 2? Or do they truly have 4+ mil parked for hypotheticals? Seems wild to have that much money earmarked for LONG shots. But we are in wild times

Adam Miller is a floor raiser for this team and allows us to go all in on Sarr and other recruits. Older, taller, and better shooter than DGL, so a plus replacement.
A floor raiser? Arizona State was 13-20 last year and Miller was their 5th leading scorer. He isn't a big rebounder or assist guy, which is funny because he left to be a PG. I certainly think he is better than DGL, but people, we need to live in reality. Every recruit is not a superstar. Miller is a solid rotational guy on a good team.

Well from Sarr's viewpoint, Duke vs us. He may have to share the ball and won't be the focus of the offense at Duke but it won't hurt his chances to play in the NBA. He would also have a very good chance to play in a final four and win a national championship. That's why it is so hard for us to win out on recruiting battles when teams like Duke get involved.

That is what we need. Sarr and possible other transfer are the alpha scorer bets.

Higher floor - we dont lose to USC, NW, Nebraska or Rutgers. 15-5 b10 gets us a 3 or 4 seed and we are playing 2nd weekend.

My concern is rotational guys should be where your good attitude comes from, like Jake Davis. Miller is a guy who only picks losing teams to join, I don't trust he can keep his attitude in check.

You're forgetting the power of nostalgia.

Been a crazy busy week … Apologies for the limited posts … Here’s the updates …

Ace Wolf … Fully expect him to be an Illini … Wants to win … Wants to do it back at home … Really, really solid role player …

Sarr … Meeting with him today … Number is going to be $2.5 million and Duke is very much involved, they aren’t exactly thrilled with how the Ament recruitment is going and don’t wanna miss on both …
I fear that nobody can win a bidding war against Duke’s private equity funded NIL machine.

Getting him to come for non starter rrole may be tough. What if you had to choose between Miller and Storr?

Miller brings depth as a bench guy. Bring a spark and immediate scoring off bench. Has to earn a starting spot, not handed to him.

I assume he's not getting driven by his momma. He's in his last year, has eaten some humble pie, matured some and just wants to win for his last go around. Why not come back home where there is no animosity and bridges are still up?

I think his success here will be determined in large part by how much he's let go of that "dream". Much like Storr's desire to be a make-your-own-shot guy.

I believe when he said floor raiser that he meant bang for the buck. A good solid player, better than DGL at a price that opens up money that can be spent on others that will elevate the team as a whole. The whole "moneyball" concept or at least squeezing all you can out of every dollar and being efficient with our money vs Duke, BYU and Louisvilles crazy money being thrown around.

Whatever animosity remains about Adam Miller is probably more closely aligned with when he left. I believe he was our first player to leave via “portal”, and it was very soon after it initially opened.
I don’t think it would elicit the same reaction these days. We’ve been hardened by the fluidity of portal season.
At least he had the decency to not go somewhere like Michigan.

Maybe this will finally put the "no one who starts with Brad finishes their last year of eligibility playing for Brad" narrative to bed, lol
Ayo of course went pro before exhausting his eligibility.

Fun trivia: only two players committed to Underwood and exhausted their entire D1 scholarship eligibility at Illinois, name them.

[EDIT, actually it might only be one. There is definitely one. The other kinda hinges on definitions of a waiver]

True. He was the first portal out.

Adam MIller. A 1.82 BPR this year on EvanMiya. And people were mad at Ben Humrichous with his 3.44. Absolutely ridiculous.
Dude, Miya's stats suck. He also has KB as just our 5th best defender, and had Rez as the 2nd best BPR on the team this year ahead of Tomi, KJ, and KB.

For that matter, Miller's DBPR was actually better than KB's. His OBPR was the problem, lower than every single player on our team with enough possessions to qualify. But why? On what basis? Look at Adam Miller's stats and explain why his offensive rating is so bad according to Miya. I've looked and tried to figure it out really cant square it. His eFG was higher than everyone on our team except Tomi and Rez, and KJ and KB both turned the ball over more.

honestly you cant take stats from awful teams glass full. I mean look at tre white from a 3 win team, he competed his !!! off
