Ayo of course went pro before exhausting his eligibility.

Fun trivia: only two players committed to Underwood and exhausted their entire D1 scholarship eligibility at Illinois, name them.

[EDIT, actually it might only be one. There is definitely one. The other kinda hinges on definitions of a waiver]
Andres Feliz. The number of scholarship high school recruits is zero.

Frazier and Damonte both committed before Brad was hired.

Andres Feliz- didn’t he come from Juco- so his whole D1 career was with BU
Tyler committed to him and finished his D1 eligibility at Illinois ( after a transfer obviously)

Feliz is correct!

Tyler wasn't a scholarship player and also played at SFA and OSU.

The other guy is admittedly weasel-y, but I think technically true.

Austin Hutcherson

Don't know who the other would be.

Edit: Feliz is the other as mentioned by others.

Anyone who thinks Adam Miller isn’t an elite fit for the role we need him to play simply doesn’t know ball …

He is exactly what we need …

As long as people don't think he's going to come in here and kill it from 3PT. Miller's college career 3PT% is the same as Humrichous's was for us this past season.

Hutch, who came from D3 Williams and finished here is the other one!

He absolutely could have played longer, at Illinois or elsewhere, through some combination of injury and Covid waivers had he wanted to. But I don't believe he ever bothered applying and moved on with his degree in hand.

Currently on LinkedIn as "Analyst at Rockefeller Capital Management" in New York. Good for him!

Given the ability of anyone to transfer at any time (albeit with the possibility of perhaps sitting out a year pre-portal), I'm going to guess:

1. Trent
2. DaMonte
3. ColeHawk

You mention in a post a few minutes later that Illinois would look to add another player beyond Miller + someone on Coward/Sarr's level.

Would that additional player be another swing at a star, or more of a role piece? I like Miller, but would like to see another high-upside big guard or wing on top of Coward/Sarr. Is the money there?

Boswell-Miller-Coward or Sarr-Mirkovic-Tomi, with Z and Rodgers off the bench is a solid team, but feels like it's missing just one more high-level piece to really make it pop.

Dude, Miya's stats suck. He also has KB as just our 5th best defender, and had Rez as the 2nd best BPR on the team this year ahead of Tomi, KJ, and KB.

For that matter, Miller's DBPR was actually better than KB's. His OBPR was the problem, lower than every single player on our team with enough possessions to qualify. But why? On what basis? Look at Adam Miller's stats and explain why his offensive rating is so bad according to Miya. I've looked and tried to figure it out really cant square it. His eFG was higher than everyone on our team except Tomi and Rez, and KJ and KB both turned the ball over more.
PER agrees with EvanMiya on this. Miller had a 9.1, KJ had a 16.3 and KB had a 13.5.

Shooting is a very deceiving stat. For example KJ was taking a lot more shots than Miller and handles the ball on top of that.

You also can't compare two guys who were assigned ball-handling to a guy who was not a ball-handler when it comes to number of turnovers, it's not a fair comparison. Rather the binary ball-handler vs not trusted with the ball is enough and Miller fails the test compared to the other two.

I can look into it further but those are some of my findings thus far.

A floor raiser? Arizona State was 13-20 last year and Miller was their 5th leading scorer. He isn't a big rebounder or assist guy, which is funny because he left to be a PG. I certainly think he is better than DGL, but people, we need to live in reality. Every recruit is not a superstar. Miller is a solid rotational guy on a good team.
If Ace is better than the guy he is being brought in to replace (DGL,) wouldn't that raise the floor?

I'm more focused on what it was last season. The more recent history is much more relevant. What's the point of working to become a better shooter if it can't be repeated? I think Ben can shoot but it's not like Ben though is it? Adam improved and did it in the B12. Ben's drop was likely due to better competition but I still think Ben and Boz are good shooters. Adam took a ton of poor shots at LSU but he should get better looks here with Kylan, Big Z n T. I expect Adam Miller will be around 40 % and I hope we land him at a good price. He can defend too and plays hard.

Thanks, Indy. Cedric Coward would be a great transfer addition to the Illini. Love his size, skills, and stats. Someone mentioned earlier that Coward might cost $1M (or more) to sign. Do you think that's accurate? Do you think Illinois could afford to pay $1M+ for Coward AND $2.5M+ for Dame Sarr?

That isn't the problem. Will he be happy and accept the role is the real question. Maybe a more humble Adam Miller can be a great fit. He was practically given the keys and still left. Any true Illini fans still taste the sour milk from that 1.
