I am still pumped that Ty Rodgers is back, lets not forget about that. I 100% believe he is going to start. Let's not forget that last year Underwood said this is the best shooting team he had and other players mentioned that as well but when it came down to it they weren't that great at the end of the season. Let's get some players that will play hard and not crack under pressure. Need to get back to getting players that play downhill well, Ty Rodgers and Kylan are both those types of players and i think Jamir Watkins can be as well. Still a lot of time left to snag some players.

Go get Miller and Watkins with the current remaining pool, show the donors that you have a really good team now but could use another ≈$2M to be ELITE, then add Andrej as the final piece.

Kylan
Watkins/Andrej
Andrej/Watkins
Mirk
Tomi

Ty, Big Z, Ace, Ben H, Jake Davis, the 3 freshmen

That’s a championship caliber team
If we can challenge for the B10 and I think we shall when it's all said and done then we should have a shot. If that happens then $$ will follow.

Yep, this isn't a rational market. We're dealing with 25 - 50 other programs with their own rich and desperate donors. Need our own version of "moneyball".
Right? There are about 5 schools right now looking at their rosters and going, that's a team that can make the Final 4... and about 40 others desperately trying to get there.

Not directed at you by any means…but this is such bs. Suddenly we’re just 100% out on Sarr? Partially because of us? Give me a break.

It sounds like this staff is totally scrambling right now. Thanks god Tomi has a twin brother who is also good at basketball.
Yeah there were guys like Dix that we clearly wanted and didn't get. Held on to at least Sarr is ours or NBA bound. Coach can recruit so not too worried yet, but I think we are scrambling to come up with something significant.

If true that we're not pushing for Sarr, not sure why that sounds crazy to people.

He'd be a freshmen that we'd be betting on as our star

Did I want him? Yes. But if I’m the coaching staff exploring all options, I’d definitely be hesitant to bank on a freshman—especially one who might stay in the draft anyway.

The thing with Sarr is that after it went public that we were locked in with him in late Feb/early March, a rash of injuries thrust Sarr into a prominent role on the Barcelona senior team for the first time and he played fantastic. He went from a comparable prospect with KJ last year to a different sort of level in terms of how proven he was.

It's true that bidding wars will keep escalating if you don't lock guys down, but the underlying substance of the Dame Sarr situation has really dramatically changed since we first heard his name. There's no world in which a deal we made in February would have stuck.
As we know all too well.

A natty has always been my hope. Every year I think just one before I die. Now, I'm 83 and diagnosed with ALS. Seems like my dream has died. 😒

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there's been a whisper campaign against Illinois basketball for a while now. Makes it tough to gain traction with top recruits and transfers. Not impossible, but harder than it should be. Donor fatigue also a factor. The landscape isn't what many fans want it to be or have been told that it is by the sycophants. That's just the truth.
Catching up on 20 pages of posts after enjoying a day on the links and not sure what depressed me most, the news in this post or that I had to look up what sycophants means. A whisper campaign against Illinois basketball? An old-timer like me in a different era remembers something similar from Digger Phelps, Bobby Knight, LaPhonso Ellis and other old enemies.

Go Illini. I'll just head back to the 19th hole now.

wow, just checking some of the Sarr drama elsewhere- apparently he went back to spain and Barca locked him out of the facilities and his coach said he won't wear the Barca jersey again after going to the Nike Hoops Summit without their permission.

And now Kentucky is interested in Sarr as well . . .

And in 7-billion years, the sun will engulf the Earth. So really, this is all just a fool's errand.
And in 120 trillion years the last light from the last star will diminish... Then we have the endless void of darkness for a much longer time after that. Only then can we answer the questions.... Can entropy be reversed? And where do stand with sarr?

I don't get all this hate. We are not done. We likely are not getting Miller but regardless. We have 40 minutes of 7ft plus centers that can shoot, Boswell who was playing at an All B10 the last part of the season, a Nike Hoop Summit 4 who is big bodied, will.match up in the post better than anyone from last season if you saw him play the other night, and are in better shape than this time last season by a mile. I wish I could've seen some of you guys make it rain when you were Ballin! I swear we could sign some like a young Michael Jordan and some would be unhappy. It's still early. Guys are still in the draft process. I want guys too but damn.
I think, in my opinion, the frustration comes from the likelihood that that is another fridge round of 32 team or worse

Sarr's price has apparently gotten over three million. Pushing his agent to stay in the draft as well. This was Brad's call to back off, for a couple of reasons.

1) The money they have they can land a stud plus two "good" level guards.

2) Brad wants the big time add to be older. He wants to have a very veteran team again. Even if it was someone like Ian Jackson, he at least has a year of college under his belt.

Well now that I won’t get “old takes exposed”, kind of thought Sarr leaving Barca without permission was a pretty telling character move.

By no means am I saying you don’t take him because of this, but it sure doesn’t point to a guy of high character.

What the hell are you even talking about? I'm commenting on this lineup posted right here:

Boswell
Miller
Ben
Mirkovic
Tomi

You stoked by that? Go troll someone else.

THIS I can buy... car purchasing analogies be damned.
