I will harbor no ill will toward Ace if he chooses to go elsewhere.
Would be a tough decision to make for the kid as it would be for any of us in his situation.

This year may be the most money he can make in a year.
Sounds like he cannot have both his favorite cake (If he does really want to play for the Illini) and the option to eat it.

I don’t understand the hand wringing about the kid not committing on a convenient timeline for you personally when he’s weighing the difference of hundreds of thousands of dollars difference to potentially play here- a lump sum that will likely never be available to him again. Despite the large NIL gap the fact that he’s still heavily considering Illinois I think would lead to more positivity and good will and understanding to the situation given it’s a potentially life altering decision.

There are at least 50 other players similar to Ace with a chance to be a diamond in the rough. Ace is going to give you what he has every year, so it's nice to know what you are going to get. With that said, his cost is to high compared to a mid major player that could bust out in our system for less money. Glad they aren't going to fold and will move on if he doesn't commit soon.
It was reported that the 3rd option on a MAC team got a 7-figure deal this off-season.

This debating of players' worth, in the current climate we are playing, is odd. If Miller doesn't deserve 7-figures, the next guy who may or may not be any better, will still be demanding the same.

The players are seemingly always worth more than the initial offer put out.

We need athletes. Stojakovic and Miller simply isn’t enough. Miller after his ACL tear is not near the athlete he used to be. If this going to be our roster we need to play zone this year and cover up our lack of foot speed.
Stojakovic is a bit of a better athlete than you think but I do agree with the sentiment. Id like to see some defenders added.

If it's Stojakovic plus two other guys I'd like to see at least one guy be an explosive guard/wing if not both.

The way I see it, the one good thing about NIL is that Irvin and the other Irvins in the world will have less influence on the recruiting process.
Am I wrong to think that?

Irvin is controlling the recruitment for Devin Cleveland. AAU coaches will still have an influence on where players go. Top players start getting paid in hs

Another team to keep an eye on for Miller is Oregon….

Baylor is still recruiting him very hard. Very quiet in regards to us…😉

I somewhat agree. Stojakovic is quite athletic. Ty is athletic. And Z is athletic (much more than Tomi even if Tomi is the better player). But after those three, the level of run-jump athleticism falls substantially.

I have made my feelings on Ace coming back...if Brad wants him, fine. But Id like him a whole lot better as the first guard off the bench than our starting SG.
I want Brad to see how they all look in practice and set up the team accordingly. When the season starts if someone is playing better than the original starters I hope he switches them. When we get to the tough part of the schedule and the opponents are tougher if he needs to adjust again I hope he does.

He has had a tendency to make up his mind and then not change it regardless of how guys are playing. Don't arbitrarily decide and refuse to change.

It feels that way with Illini men’s basketball.

It doesn’t entirely feel that way with Illini football or women’s basketball.
