I still think Watkins is the best guy in the portal but i agree that he would be the ideal complement to Stojakovic.

Stojakovic could operate as the lead guy offensively which I think would really benefit Watkins and allow him to get easy looks on cuts, offensive rebounds, and catch and shoot opportunities which would allow him to a far more efficient scorer.

Then Watkins would basically help anchor the defense and guard opposing teams best wings. He would add a physical aspect that is kind of absent on the roster outside of Rodgers(maybe Boswell and Mirkovic).

I think Watkins would make them a top 5 team in the country and that might be underselling it. Petrovic might lead the nation in assists playing with Tomi, Stojakovic, and Watkins plus it would take a ton of pressure off of Boswell to score.

When he's playing in an Illini uniform, I'll believe it. If the money Is close, I just don't see why he'd leave the west coast.

That he left Champaign w/o a commitment isn't a good sign. Neither is Tipton putting a crystal ball to Illinois and then back tracking that several suitors in line after visit (confirming gone and no commitment). This is one you had to have signed, sealed and delivered upon leaving.

I'd take Watkins on this team over anyone remaining in the portal. No question to me.

Yeah I understand it, it’s just not usual for us to get an Indy boom without an announcement coming shortly thereafter.
