Do we know how much eligibility he will have? Is he a 1-year rental at 22? or could we possibly have a core for at least a couple of years?
My guess is that he will be classified as a junior, based on recent history with Tomi.

no one knows yet, but the consensus is 2 years
That what it would seem like - he's not on NBA radars and no matter how good of a season he has a 23 year old 6'1 - 6'2" PG probably isn't going to get drafted so he's likely looking at this as a way to play on a big stage, earn some money (we probably are paying him 50-100% more than what he was making) and enjoy the experience - and he'll be that much more marketable if he goes back to play in Europe afterward.

Now he could hit the portal after a year of course, so I think we should always consider everyone a one year guy, but if he has a good experience, no reason he doesn't stay for two and play an even bigger role in the offense his second year

Getting greedy here but is there still talk of signing another player? Lville thanks for all your info you have given us!
There will almost certainly be another player. Whether it's a player the caliber (price range) of Fland, Watkins, or Claude is another question.

Just my personal opinion, but the longer this goes without an announcement the worse I feel

One of the things that has interested me the most about BU's roster construction over the past 3 years is the positional height advantage of each team. Compared to all of D1 averages over the last 3 years, Illinois' average height is as follows: 13th (2023), 8th (2024), 13th (2025). Last year's roster's average would have been in the top 10 if Tomi and Morez hadn't missed games for injury/sickness.

I'm putting the cart before the horse in terms of my wild guess at average minutes by player, but it feels accurate enough for the purposes of this analysis. As long as it's not wildly inaccurate, Illinois' average height next year will be somewhere between 79.2 and 79.5 inches, which would likely put us top 5 in the nation in height. Last year, the top 5 respectively was Duke, Elon, Utah, FSU, and Michigan.

So here’s the latest information I’ve been hearing. There are 3 possibly 4 wing type players we are pursuing with the thought of filling one position with one of these 3 or 4 transfers. We will not over spend on one or the other if a team like Florida wants to outbid us. It hopefully comes down to a comfort level when it comes to AS. We know he really like the U of I. But if he only wants the most money there are other options for us. Each of these 3 or four players will want to start. It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out.

People here need to recognize that the path isn’t “school and player make deal, Loyalty Board is immediately notified.” We’re aware that Stojakovic has committed because we have insiders who clue us in. In the interim, the legalities and such need to be finalized and only then will an announcement happen. Meanwhile, here on Loyalty we’re screaming “we’ve been told about this… why aren’t you confirming what we know?!?!?!”

Totally agree but imo the fear factor comes from knowing that even though a commitment and deal is done nothing has been made public or officially finalized. Other schools won’t stop offering back channel deals because it’s assumed he has a deal with Illinois. If Kentucky doubles our offer I would highly doubt this deal is done enough to make that offer meaningless.

I’m sort of embarrassed to ask but I don’t get it, could someone explain this? 🤪

Time for a positive spin on the delay…. As a hiring manager, I valued notifying unselected candidates before announcing the hire—it’s basic integrity, scarce in today’s transfer portal (and even old recruiting days). Let Illinois give time to allow Andrej Stojakovic’s to notify the other suitors before making an official announcement.

Gotta let Baby Peja finesse the breakup texts to avoid a transfer portal soap opera!
