Going to have to be the right fit like you said. Could see them adding a depth guard in late May regardless but we will see.
Unlike the pros where even the end of the bench guys make millions and accept their role, I think it will be very tough on team chemistry to have too many stars thinking they will be a key part and find out otherwise. For instance what would be the ripple effect be if Riley comes back?

There are very high expectations next year. This is a top 10-15 team talent/depth wise.
This team will be like last years team without a legit outside shooter. The kid Bargovac decent handles and excellent shot would make this team a better team, cause of inside and outside threats.

Torvik has us at 14. Think that’s about right… we are a top 10-15 team next season in my opinion. 1 piece away from being a real national title threat.
Any idea on what Torvik had the Illini last year preseason? If his numbers indicated something close to a R2 exit, then I will take #14 in a heartbeat.

We have 3 who can play center plus Jacksys Ben H for emergency.
Tomas - 7'1" 255
Big Z 7'2 245 lb
Mircovic 6'9" 250 lb. Held his own at Nike Hoop Summit vs McDAA's
-----
Jacksys 6'10 210 lb
Ben H 6'9 220 lb (filled in when Morez was out, tried hard, has height)

Last year we had 2 - Tomas and Morez
Update: Jakstys ( properly spelled) is 230 thanks to fletch. Not sure tho how many minutes he gets.

It would have to be an enormous piece. This team has the floor of an 8 seed and a one and done with the ceiling of a 4 seed and a sweet 16.

We're really, really going to struggle to play defense. We have height, which is going to bother some teams, but across the board..... we're going to struggle against teams with explosive athletes in the front court. There's no way around that.

The one way to combat that is to have your guards be ball hawking, lockdown defenders that can deny interior post feeds and make it tough for the other team to get into their offense. I think that Boswell and probably Rodgers have that in their DNA, but that's probably the extent of it.

Our talent is very, very good. We're very skilled. Offensively, we're going to be special.

Defensively...... we're going to have to be a LOT more physical and a LOT tougher than this past year. This is the area where I'm not a huge fan of overseas players.

With all due respect to the ABA, this is a whole different animal that these guys will be taking on from a physicality and athletic standpoint.

Illinois sees the need to add a combo-guard. Will be tough to find one who fits, though.
What is the projected role we could offer? 15-18 minutes off the bench as primary back court sub?
