I'm not sure when you went, but my experience is similar. I graduated in 2004. I am an actuary and my best friend's a mechanical engineer. We had identical starting salaries and our annual in-state tuition/R&B/books was slightly less than 25% of our starting salary.
January 1977. We still had wooly mammoths back then. Maybe not...
So from 77 to 04 (27 years) the cost to starting salary ratio didn't change much.
But in the 20 years since, it has changed dramatically, roughly between double to triple.
This shouldn't be the case, as cost and salary should move somewhat similarly with inflation.

Pope Leo XIV (top left) seen here during the White Sox’s 2005 championship run.

I wonder if he called in a favor from the Man upstairs during that year’s Elite Eight... 🤔
Looking at where he was and knowing where I was for two games in that series, I can say I had better seats than the Pope.

Think that'll keep me out of heaven?

You'd think that, but you'd be wrong. It's a well known fact, there are no Packers in heaven.

In 1970, my fall quarter tuition at EIU was $700. I think R&B was $100 per month.
In 1970, if I remember correctly, my fall semester tuition at Illinois was $154.00. My last semester (spring ‘74) was $354. My sorority (AGD) was around $880 a semester.
Also, with the DIA having to come up with enough money to pay approximately $22-23 million a year for the House settlement, LOTS is going to have to be cut, not added. That’s also one of the main reasons for the ERA reseating.

Reviewing your prior posts, there are SO MANY other things that will be keeping you out of heaven, your seats at the Sox game will be way down on the list. 😉

You are spot on here. As of 2023, that figure would reflect 13% of current expenses in the program. In 2023, the DIA ran a net loss of about $4.5M. You add in this proposed revenue share, and things will need to be cut (unless donations pour in and you can see push back already in the reseating threads). The DIA budget is not all roses as some might think.

Where do the last 8 years of Chicago sports fit into this?
From an ownership standpoint, fluctuating between Greed and Fraud. From a fan standpoint, fluctuating between Anger and Limbo.

Vastly underrates our class also as it is only looking Andrej and Big Z. Mirk and 22 year old PG have to be worth more than a typical HS recruit?
Those guys are recruits, not incoming transfers.
I’d rather be under-rated any day of the week. Give the boys some bulletin board material to power them through the summer. Rankings don’t mean jack after the jump ball is tossed.

I know some of y'all are gonna cry BLASPHEMY! on this. But living in the SW mostly since leaving HS in IL and traveling extensively South of the Border, I'm partial to Sonoran style dogs. That's some good shite! Lot of options on the toppings, ALL are good! Now when it comes to brats or a spicy Italian, yeah, a solid spicy mustard is all I need!

Since it appears we are in a holding pattern on next years roster while awaiting Will Riley's decision, I guess we've got to fill the time somehow. Delectable food choices/discussions is a perfect way to pass the time!

I just thought of something after watching a ewetube video. Here's a question for any insiders that may know...why isn't Tony Kahn supporting our NIL? He graduated in 07. That's a nice chunk of "change" that he could provide.
