No. I've been thinking for a LONG time that Will Riley will not be coming back to Illinois for another season. That's why I asked in my post if "THE STAFF is NOW sure that Will Riley will NOT be back next season."

Again... I've thought for a long time now that Will Riley would not be returning to the Illini next season. And that's even if he's not a lottery pick in the Draft.

Thanks! I like the video on 6'5" senior Forward Rodney Johnson Jr. of Tennessee Tech. He looks athletic, and makes some tough moves/shots inside, but he also looks good shooting 3-pointers. (He shot at a 40.2% rate on 3s this past season.) Looks like he'd be a nice addition to the Illini roster.

The decision to add Rodney Johnson vs. adding Jalen Cox (Colgate) might be based on whether the Staff considers it more needed, more important, to add a Small Forward or a Combo Guard to the roster.

You don't think our new coach, from Colgate, might have an impact on such a choice? I get the staff might want to fill all slots, unlike the past couple years. But the players also have to be willing to step into a role that may lead to little playing time if the current roster clicks. That's where we are at in the here and now. At this point in time Illinois is looking for Insurance policies, not many players want to be that......

Adding more depth never hurts and he seems like he can help across multiple dimensions- shooter, rebounder, defender at the SF/SG position

Plus he’s a senior with 4 years of experience- to clarify I think he would just have one year left, correct? The NCAA waiver this year gives guys who played non D-1 one more year like Ben, but not two more years

Not to make a sweeping generalization, but also not my words, a former Bundesliga player told me euro basketball is “p*ssy basketball,” which is why he wants his son to come play in the US for a year like he did when he was younger.

I think toughness is always one of the questions with euro players, right up there with athleticism.

The Balkan area has a reputation of producing “tougher” guys because of the war history and country splits etc. It was not an easy place to be for a while there, so toughness was a part of survival for a lot of families. It’s more rooted in the personality.

I also say this as somebody who lives with an Eastern European. Just trust me lol

Yes, except for the conjecture that Jalen left the state because of this event.

it would help to get physical and athletic on the wing. would much rather have johnson, would be a good fit.

Still think if we fill one more spot if needs to be a 6-5 junkyard dog SG who can drill 3's.

Tre could have filled that role IMHO, not sure what the full story was. Maybe Ty can do this job as well, without a proven 3.
