Purdue, Illinois, Michigan, UCLA .... very little doubt that will be the preseason top 4 for the media (in whichever order from 2-4).

injuries and sicknesses (to key guys) are always reasonable excuses, no?
Agree, hope the Illini kick the tires and gauge the interest from Neoklis Avadalas a 6-9 200 lb forward from Athens Greece which is still technically a Balkan country. He’s currently in the draft and has until June 18th to remove his name since he’s international. This team has a great base but remains 1 piece away from doing real damage.
Half of this board said no this past season, so....injuries and sicknesses (to key guys) are always reasonable excuses, no?

That was a fun interesting read! I've not heard this story before. Thanks for the link!https://deadspin.com/the-fall-of-kevin-mackey-march-madnesss-junkie-cinder-1553579005/
Definitely a rabbit hole worth going down.
And yet they continue to play us tougher/closer than any other B1G team over the last 25 years...It says a lot about their NIL situation that they couldn't compete with projected second round money.
Lots of very good coaching hires this season, should be a wild card year similar to the May hire at Michigan.Purdue, Illinois, Michigan, UCLA .... very little doubt that will be the preseason top 4 for the media (in whichever order from 2-4).
which rosters are you referring to? Purdue, Oregon, MSU, Michigan, UCLA, Indiana, Wisconsin are all well set up for success. I'd even argue USC in there - if Claude were back that roster would be real scary.
If they didn't lose Claude merely minutes before the deadline that would've been my No. 2 or 3 big ten team. But they did... and that very much drops them down to average.Who you like on usc? I think Muss has done an abysmal job since being there. Losing Claude and Yates too? YUCK
I still think Davis will make a junior jump and be a very important piece in this puzzle. I doubt many will agree with that.Purdue, Illinois, Michigan, UCLA .... very little doubt that will be the preseason top 4 for the media (in whichever order from 2-4).
Lol he's been there for one year. It was a pretty mediocre year but he did beat us in Champaign. His teams always seem to be a bit frenetic and are capable of beating anyone on a given day.Who you like on usc? I think Muss has done an abysmal job since being there. Losing Claude and Yates too? YUCK
is he considering the college route? not much out there mentioning him in connection to college.what about this guy? played with petrovic, seems very impressive.
Yep. Just hope the bugs don't bite us again.injuries and sicknesses (to key guys) are always reasonable excuses, no?
He will be drafted this year.what about this guy? played with petrovic, seems very impressive.
Hard pass no ic in his last name.../sa guy like Avdalas is that "missing piece" type wing guy that could really push the ceiling to one of the best teams in the country imho.
NIL situation and last 25 years are interesting things to compare. Personally, I’d hold off on the ‘continue’ as the only meeting over the last year+ was a 39 point Illini win.And yet they continue to play us tougher/closer than any other B1G team over the last 25 years...
I don't disagree with anything you said. I just wanted to take this opportunity to say that Muss is a clown. And I'm really tired of getting beat by him.Lol he's been there for one year. It was a pretty mediocre year but he did beat us in Champaign. His teams always seem to be a bit frenetic and are capable of beating anyone on a given day.
Honestly, I don't think Yates was a huge loss when you replace him with Rice. I think Rice is currently a better player and will be better this year. Claude was definitely the blow and I think it was a loss that surprised him since it was last minute.
The trio of Claude, Rice, and CBM would have been very dangerous. Still though Alijah Arenas is a top 10 recruit and will still make that a very good backcourt if he's recovered from the Tesla accident.
Cofie had a very solid freshman year at Virginia and will be a solid big. Marsh was fantastic for Ashville and I wouldn't be surprised to see him be a good bench scorer. Brownell,Dynes, and Ausar should be able to provide good interior minutes(will be interesting to see how Dynes rim protection translates).
Dickerson might me the most interesting piece tbh. Very strong athletic wing that absolutely killed Alabama in the tournament(they nearly won that game) and he averaged over two blocks a game at 6'7.
If they had brought back Claude I think they are a contender to win the Big10 but even still I think they will be a solid tournament team. It's a very big and athletic team from 1 to 5 that will be able to match up with anyone in the country physically.
