Since we are at it in the Big West, any chance this guy has eligibility?
UH Hilo is D2 so he should be able to play 2 more years if he wants to play. Could potentially go pro internationally.

I think he's too small for the Big10 though. Monster mid major big but just not big enough for power conference bigs. He really struggled with Michigan's bigs along with SDSU and UCI(UCI had a German 7 footer).
D2 and D3 do still count towards eligibility. The Pavia stuff was in regards to players who competed at non-NCAA schools, like JUCO and NAIA. BH played NAIA, not D2 or D3, which is why he still has eligibility. D2 and D3 are both still within the NCAA structure.
This is a messy one because of three factors:

1) how many years did he play at D2 (and yes, D2 and D3 do count against your eligibility)
2) he's played 4 games over three seasons from 2020-21 to 2022-23
3) there's also the covid rule which also presumably applies to D2 and D3 players as well.

Gotcha. I thought the change was that only Division 1 counted with that whole thing.

Not actually as tricky as it seems, because ESPN doesn't track D2 games (My guess is the 4 that show up there are the 4 that were vs D1 opposition).

Here's what his Wikipedia page shows:

If you go to Hawaii-Hilo's basketball website you peruse their box scores and can see he was a major contributor in his 3 years there. https://hiloathletics.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule/2021-22

So this means Humrichous has 2 years too, no? Eligibility is an adventure.
NCAA eligibility is separate from NAIA eligibility and i'd imagine the covid rule does not apply to the athlete if they were not in the NCAA metaphase during the covid season (2020-21).

So yes, 2 years remaining (if I'm getting everything correctly).

Not exactly. My understanding was that basically when Pavia got a preliminary injunction giving him an extra year, the NCAA extended that additional year to everyone else who under similar circumstances, for one extra year of eligibility, all while appealing the waiver. So basically, to avoid every other athlete in that position filing a suit to get an injunction, they gave everyone the one year to level the field. But they are still contesting the Pavia case and it's not an open-ended thing where they've fully conceded that JUCO/NAIA years do not count.

Keonte Jones led his team in rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. Whenever you can do that while also averaging 13+ a game....sounds like very high-impact potential. Hopefully they can snag him. Could very well be one of your best players.
Not a statistician, but I can't think of anyone who would accomplish this last year other of Cooper Flagg.

Not to be a killjoy, but will the money be there if we want Jones?
Truth is - in contrast to last offseason (coleman, etc), this year as we have neared the end of the cycle the market value for these players seems to be trending down. Duke only got Sarr for 2.5 mil, K-State got Haggerty for 2.5 mil (allegedly). That's a lot at first glance, but at one point those prices were around 4mil.

So, the price tag and bidding war for these guys is likely not what is was a 2 or 3 months ago (mostly probably due to a lot of the blue-bloody programs being full).

Rather have Jones …

Proven rebounder … Tough … Plus shooter …

Also - Don’t rule out Monsanto …

Tyler wants to run the shoot 3s offense … That’s fine … Bring in some guys who can freaking shoot it …

Why such an awful 2pt%? Does he not shoot any layups? Bad shot selection inside the arc? Etc…

We gotta pick up someone right? Not a starter type talent but losing the season to injuries is the worst feeling

Easy dude. He’d be a nice add, especially at this point, but if he’s one of our best players — unless “one of” just means top 7 or 8 — then this team isn’t what we think it will be.

He'll be a starter - that should likely classify as one of your best players (at least 4 or 5).
