We need to realize that this is unlikely. Next year has the potential to be as good, if not better than this team and minutes will be difficult to come by. Reminds me of a few years ago when every player we heard of - mostly Ben - we compared to Domask.

Every year there's about a handful of freshman as good as Wagler while being ranked that low. 95% of the time that's a developmental add and not immediate impact. Setting that as the bar for each three star we land is just not a fair assessment for the kid.
We were saying the same exact thing a year ago about Wagler

Can you expand on this a little more?

The Irvin’s have always been delusional … Because it’s pre NIL I won’t get into any crazy specifics …

I can say - The major reason Adam Miller isn’t on this years roster is because of the Irvin’s …

And let’s not forget they somehow managed to run Kahlil Whitney, Amari Bailey, and JJ Taylor’s careers into the ground … Along with many others …

When’s the last time anyone connected to the Irvin’s/Fire had an “elite” career … CBB and then pro … Ayo and TJ for sure … After that ? Whole lot of nothing …

Just have to excuse some of our immature individuals on this board, as they feel the need to interject the POV.
Instead of being silent and thought a fool , they have to speak up and be known as one.

Recruiting never stops.

Glad we got him to commit early and glad he signed. Think we got a good one. Not fair to say he will be the next Wagler, but I do think he will outplay his ranking.

Really like how our recruiting is trending. Seems like we are finding the money ball sweet spot of developmental and/or under the radar HS kids, Euros, portal, and a couple of high $$ HS/portal players for good measure.

NBA Draft Room version 1.0 2025 draft

It's a pretty silly exercise to project guys after the top 10 into the NBA draft. Just going with NBA Draft Room as an example (cited as reliable in this thread by one poster).

In their top 70
No mention of #11 pick Cedric Coward
#14 pick Carter Bryant was 34 on their list
No mention of #18 pick Walter Clayton
#24 Nique Clifford they have as 44
#25 Jase Richardson as 53
No mention of # 31 Rasheer Fleming

I didn't even look at foreign players.

On the other side, they had Alex Karaban as #16 but he's back for another season. Kwame Evans at #25 but back. Toppin at 26 but back. Bidunga, Catchings, Sanon as well.

Big Z was 43.

David Mirkovic poits + stats compares well with top ten 2025 recruits

Keaton Waglers points+ asst + rebounds compares well with top 15 2025 recruits.

When you add physical measurables, poise, bb IQ, dog, potential....it was like adding two top 15 recruits IMHO. Well done staff.
When we look at these 2 and the evaluations, it makes you think this staff is playing chess when others are playing checkers.

Positional size just might be an indicator here. You occasionally have a sleeper like a Damian Lillard and Steph Curry, but more likely with a highly skilled player with that size advantage.

I had so much hope for Austin Hutcherson.

all that is well and good, but a blind squirrel stumbles onto the occasional acorn
