Pistal Pete should have been more like Magic Johnson. Picked his spots when scoring and concentrated on passing and setting up his teammates. He played for his dad and like the other SEC schools in the late 1960's he had no black teammates. He should have played for an integrated Northern team and far away from his dad's coaching. Illinois was coming off the slush fund so our talent was down compared to teams like Purdue, Ohio State and Iowa. Pistol playing for the 1969-1970 Iowa Hawkeyes probably beats UCLA for the national championship. He would have been passing to future pros Freddie Brown and John Johnson.

Jaden Schutt seems to be finding his way a bit. Shooting 45% from 3 this year on 6 attempts.

Seems like forever ago, but not sure the relationship there was ever that solid. That's the kind of really nice senior guard portal piece you'd love.

The kid was a highlight reel at Eurobasket earlier this year. Seems like the internet is saying Arkansas is in the lead for him. Also, seems like the kid wants to be one and done.

Glad he has found a home at VaTech for past 2 years I wonder if Brad tried to get him last spring?
Vtech was NIT team 2023 and 2024. Did not get invited in 2025 13-19.
He is 10 ppg role player on bad team.

Nah, I'm more than fine with Ethan Brown for next years' incoming SG.

Even though Schutt would offer way more experience, I'm still content with seeing how the new incoming freshman 4 star does. He's put up some pretty gaudy stats this Senior year, so I'm excited to see what he brings here in 2027.
