be livid if he went to another college. burn the whole place down if went to another big ten school
This keeps happening and we keep being fine.

Which is not to say I don't also feel the same way.

I guess my take would be, these are human beings, and young ones, and in many cases young ones far from home with little connection to Champaign, IL. It seems very possible to me that taking a very dollars and cents approach to who is worth keeping and not might be of less benefit than a general ethos of "let's keep the band together for next year". Especially since our guys seem to like each other.

Every single year with BU we have a transfer out that's painful and unforeseen. Let's try to break that trend.

Lot of factors there …

Focused on finishing the season strong … Then they’ll talk …
I would love for him to stay one more year and slide into Wagler's slot. I assume the Croatian player Bilic will play the small forward. Stojakovic needs to work on his outside shooting but I can see him being an NBA player like his dad. Not a star but a possible rotation player in the League. Brad should sell him on being a big 2 guard for next year.

Heavy minutes? Highly doubt.

I'm not losing sleep over it. just nice to keep the shiny toys we have. especially ones that we found originally.

we will be fine regardless as there are always more players.... but a sophomore jump from Mirk means All Big ten and potential all American. get your wallets out!!!

Terrence Hill Jr. would be my dream acquisition. I’d also like some roster retention. I think in Andrej’s case we would see a jump in performance from year 1 to year 2. How much retention is financially prudent, in your opinion?
He would not be my first choice. Id much rather have Haggerty or the kid from ND.

IMO … Mirk is the guy that you absolutely have to have back … You cannot lose him …

Retention is always good … But at what cost ?

I think even if you retain everyone that can come back … You need to bring in a superstar and another really good player (Hill type guy) …
Hill or Haggerty? To.me its not close unless money is a factor.

But where do we stand with Storr?

Where do we stand with Bryce Hopkins?

Thank you for the response. Agree with you on David. He has to be in a Illini uniform next season. I understand that it won’t come cheap, but I believe strongly in bringing back the core of this team if you can. They clearly have GREAT chemistry and skill. The chemistry component is not easy to find.

I really believe in Andrej and what he would be in year 2 in our program. I am in NO WAY comparing AS to Terrence Shannon Jr. TSJ was an athletic freak and Andrej is not that, BUT in year 1 TSJ at Illinois was a very good player certainly. In that second year he had, arguably, the best season in Illini history. Again, I am not expecting the TSJ jump from Andrej. However, I think we would see significant growth and improvement.

Agree 100% that we HAVE to get more dynamic athletically. That needs to be a priority. Terrence Hill Jr. certainly fits that need.
I do not think Andre will.improve significantly. Really how can he? Unless he becomes a mid to upper 30s 3 ppint shooter? I dont see that happenning. Andre is damn good at everything else.

I dont see Mirk leaving. He is the man in our offense when Keaton moves on. Plus, i think like Mirk loves BU and he seems loyal to him if $ is anywhere close. He knows what to expect here in CU. Dont you think thays true? Stay in champaign/ the balkins!

Do we think Stojakovic is staying around?

I've of two minds when it comes to Andrej. He's simultaneously under-rated and over-rated.
When he's able to take advantage of match-ups he's a big contributor. Slashing, scoring, drawing fouls.
When he's up against good interior defenses, not so much since he doesn't have a great outside shot.
With the guys who could potentially come back, I trust they'll find the right balance with whatever funds they have to work with.

If Bilic is our starting SF we have big time problems.

I like Dre but his dribbling is no where near Keaton's. He might play the 3 but he is not a dependable 2

I would think Andrej wants to be here next season.

But would he expect to be the go to guy or is he bought into winning and a chance to develop into that guy?
You know Brad won’t guarantee anything, but there’s also no guards in front of Andrej to be the go to guy. If he earns it, it’s his.

I'd be pretty pissed if we don't bring Mirk back. be little less pissed if he just went back to Europe. be livid if he went to another college. burn the whole place down if went to another big ten school
