I'm still not convinced that they fire Hubert Davis. Whispers out there that he's willing to overhaul his coaching staff and try to implement a more "pro style" front office for his program to save his job. I can't imagine Carolina boosters will be happy to see him on the sidelines next season, though.
Isn't that what they did last year?

According to Tyler Hansbrough, they flubbed that GM hire and are looking at ways to improve the hoops program going forward, including removing Davis. All options are on the table, but it seems like even Hansbrough wants Davis to have one more season, which is dumb.

Hard no on Fears especially if we bring Andrej back.

On the one hand I get chasing the dollars if you are probably on the outside looking in on an NBA career. But he’s literally in the perfect spot for him and I have to think he’s getting a nice payday from MSU if maybe not top of the market. I don’t know that I want someone who is coming here purely for a raise.

Throw in having 2 non shooters on the floor if we bring back Andrej and all of the dirty plays and also just the incessant foul baiting. Not a fit and not a player I’d enjoy rooting for.
If fears came to Illinois the refs would suddenly start calling everything and fears would end up suspended

I have not information to back this up but I genuinely feel like the likelihood of Stojakovic returning drastically increases with each win.

I think the Illini likely need him to play well to win and I think making a tourney run is a lot more attractive to him than scoring 20 pts a game for a losing team.
Funny as I feel the opposite. He had a good but not a standout season, and post-injury went from starting to the bench. (I understand all the nuance here, and what Jake brings, and what Brad likes - I'm speaking here from some other program's POV).

I think a strong post-season by him increases interest from other programs, and raises his price, perhaps beyond what we are willing to pay. Plus he is already a traveler and switching schools does not seem a big deal to him (or maybe anyone these days).

Another player from the Balkans. He was clearly meant to become an Illini. :)
He is from Split, Croatia which is a beautiful town along the Adriatic Sea. Having visited there, I can attest to what a beautiful and nice area this is.
