Serious question: what makes you think 5 million should do the trick?

As it currently stands, his draft floor is no less than 7 … and could be as high as 5 (disclaimer: this is not my evaluation; but from what’s been said from people who know).

The #5 pick last season:

9.07M 1st year salary; 41.21M total

The #6 pick last season:

8.24M 1st year salary; 37.45M total

The #7 pick last season:

7.52M 1st year salary; 34.19M total

You’d have to go all the way down to the 14th pick for a 1st year salary of less than 5M (keep in mind this was LAST year).

Plus, with each proceeding year, you increase age, injury risk, and delay that second contract. All those factors will hurt him in the long run.

So, in what world does it logically make sense for him to come back?
In a world where money isn't everything. It does exist with some people. But good luck to Keaton in the NBA.

Re:Keaton…..he’s not coming back but it’d take 10 million to even consider it.
Fine! Who do I write the check to?

Maybe it's the optimistic in me, but I don't think Brad will have to do much pleading in this regard.
I certainly hope so. There seems to be as much chemistry with these guys off the court as there is on it. They were special this year, but they have a chance to do something historic if they come back.
Mirkovich will be an All American next year. Mark it down.

Of course it doesn't make sense for him to come back.

I just wonder if making mid-seven figures to play one more year at Illinois might be tempting for someone who might feel like there is unfinished business. Then after sophomore season, get a lottery pick and buy the solid gold toilets. Play at Illinois one more year, become a millionaire, and go to the NBA to and be an even bigger millionaire.

It's a wish, of course.

Go to the league and get paid KW
I won't judge Keaton one way or the other. What an incredible freshman for our Illini! Truly enjoyed watching him and this team. But I do judge all the comments about money. Our world has become all about money versus so many other things that are more important. Don't get me wrong, making money to provide for your family, security, etc. is important; however, if we're talking millions of dollars no matter what, I have to say, I miss the days of culture, hard work, loyalty, companionship, life long relationships, etc. Screw this world of throwing millions at kids (26 years old is when the brain is fully developed). Memories surrounded by good people is better than all of it. Going to miss Keaton! Very proud of this team and looking forward to the next team under this leadership! ILL

Most of the portal talk is who we are going to get to run PG. Who are we looking at to replace Ben? I was super critical of him many times, but man, has he been a team player who never turns the ball over, who upped his defense, and who just did whatever was asked of him. We need that guy.

I think if we are going to keep up the strategy of easy 2's and open 3's we need to make some changes/upgrades.

We need to get either solid improvement in both or top 15-30 in 1 of those areas.

UM-4th, Zona 9th in FG%. Illinois 102nd.

UM-31st and Zona 37th in 3pt%. Illinois 134th.

We were 12th in 3's attempted (4th last year). Need to get that % way up to make it viable. Need at least 1 elite shooter on floor at all times paired with at least 3 threats. The 3 pt % needs to jump closer to 37-38% if we are going to keep attempts up or need to lower attempts.

I don't think they are going to give up on the 3's, so hopefully we can get at least 1 elite shooter coming in but would like 2 shooters or 1 elite shooter and 1 elite playmaker.

Go be great.... But there does exist a possibility to go out on top!!! Does Keaton lose money by coming back?? What could he become??? Is there a wrong answer??? Really in the end it should be his decision... yet is it wrong to hope... ILL

If AS comes back:
- is he willing to pass
- is he willing to cheer on his teammates when not in the game
- will his dad buy/wear an illini shirt
- will he work on his shot, especially FT and 3 Pt

I have no clue, but feel that is a dicey situation from my observations listed.

One of the priorities for me next year would be to improve Zvonimir’s shot. Finished the year 2 of his last 31 from deep.

Guy literally shot 38% a season ago.
That’s ridiculously bad! You almost have to try to be that bad.
I still want him back though. He’s quite a character.

Here’s what I want

1: Top Transfer/Morillo
2: Dre/Coleman
3: Top Transfer/Jake
4: Mirk/Ty
5: Tomi/Z
Not want Andrej back is asinine.

Come on man. Im 63 but give me a break. Sure college is fun. But even if he came back next uear and made 6 million bucks. What business advisor or parent or anyone with Keaton and what best for his family or future kids is goimg to advise him to risk getti g hirt or something else to put at risk makimg at minimum of 40 million bucks? The NBA money is just nuts . Helll Coleman Hawkins didnt want to leave but did for an extra million or so and your its wise to consider staying and risking an extra 35 million bucks? No way.

The top transfer has to literally be a top 3 transfer. We are losing a ton with Keaton and Boz. This transfer has to be a HIGH level starter from the time he rolls into campus. He'll have enormous shoes/holes to fill.

I love running it back, but need that guard situation clear as day.

His career can be wiped out in a single play. I think it goes beyond money, at least for some. These are the best of the best who love the game and want to compete at the highest level against the best talent. We saw another electric freshman's life completely detailed by concussions. Go get paid, go play the best, and set yourself up for life.

Need to add more athleticism and shooting. From the second half of the UCLA game on we were a brick factory from the three-point line.

Tonight was not an anomaly.
Couldn’t agree more. The incoming freshmen will bring the athleticism and Bilic looks like a good shooter, but need more consistency stent shooting. I would also like another big who can defend tough bigs.

Can we all start passing the hat and collect $5 million to have Wagler play one more year for the beloved?
I proposed that mid season assuming a late lottery pick. Now it has been inflated to like $15M per to let him even think about it.
