In a battle with the Devils right now … Duke people seem confident but have plenty of options on the table … Illinois people seem confident and have made it known he’s their guy …

I don’t think Blackwell wants to wait forever on this … But holding out for a little while to get some extra cash is the smart move …
Blue or Sun?

I haven’t been this excited since “Wonder Woman” premiered in 1975.

Um no. His path to anywhere is excelling in the exact role he had with Illinois last year. He’s never going to run an offense. He needs to excel at getting to the rim, getting better at passing once he gets inside the arc, and being a respectable shooter.
He will not be heading to the league as the 6th man, only picking up more minutes when we played in a game that Davis was clearly unable to handle the other team's 3. He exceeded playing 30 minutes exactly 1 time since he returned from injury and that was 31 minutes in an OT game vs Wisconsin. He got 10 shots up exactly 4 times during that same time period.

Those numbers define what a role player is and the limitations that come with it. I'm sure that's the exact conversation that he's had/having with the staff.

He's going to a feature role where is going to be able to show off all facets of his game(the ones you noted are correct), but I can guarantee he won't want that in a supporting role. If he's not guaranteed that he'll be starting, getting 35+ minutes and being a featured player....he's gone and I wouldn't blame him for one second.

Also, keep in mind that before the NCAA Tournament, he was the object of a ton of criticism and a divorce seemed like a foregone conclusion. His tournament run and the effect that he had on those games turned the tide with the fans. It's recency bias that has people hoping he comes back and that's because he took on a much more prominent role during our run.

The kid is going to be paid starters money. Now, whether that's here or not is TBD. There will be no shortage of options. We'll find out soon.

Have heard we are in deep with a Ben replacement already. Can't release the name yet, but think most would be happy.

Duke or Illinois for Blackwell as of now.
Who’s the backup for Blackwell if he chooses Duke

We didn't offer.

Wisconsin did, developed Blackwell for three years, and now he would be jumping ship within the conference for a bunch of money. Terrible for the sport, but good for us.

Maybe “bad” for the sport in the sense fans have a greater attachment to long term players.

But, players (employees) vastly overperforming and not being locked into 4 year deals at a discount. Just the right thing

So, I went and looked back at the posting history of our insiders.

Here’s the ones I found:

And if we do try to remember, the staff and players were talking up Wagler throughout the off-season. Yes, nobody saw him being a consensus 2nd team All American… but there was always hints that he was way better than expected.
awesome! Do this for some of my posts!!!!!
