Sucks to see Ty go but that's life. Tough choices are made. All we can do is absolutely root for the guy. Kept the culture, professionalism, and was a leader. I call that an absolute success. Hopefully his body holds up and he get out there and do what he loves. Rooting for him always.

Ty is one of my absolute favorite Illinois players. I am assuming he's walking across the stage and getting a University of Illinois degree. But even if he isn't, he's been an excellent program guy. And his rebounding tenacity in the 2024 B1G Tourney is one of my favorite memories of this era. I guess when the culture is carried on by people like the Ivisic Twins and David Mirkovic, the need for someone like Ty decreases. I just don't want him to go to East Lansing.
Not like I know the guy personally or anything, but I would be shocked if he went to Michigan State or any other clear rival or direct competitor.

I may be in the minority on this, but we can appreciate his efforts, especially in 2023-2024, while recognizing this is not a critical loss. The decision to not tell anyone he was deciding to redshirt until right before the first game of the season is bailing on your team. I’m sure he was compensated greatly to play zero games for Illinois over the last two seasons. Best of luck at the next destination.

good luck, ty. i wonder if one of the directional michigan mac schools would be good for him, or kampe at oakland, since he's a .detroit area native.

edit to say i'm not belittling his abilities, but he hasn't played in 2 years

I can’t blame Ty. We are going to be loaded next year and he hasn’t played in a live game in two years. With our front court returning and potentially AS, it’s tough to see a world where he got more than 5-10 minutes a game

I’m sure he wants to shake the rust off quickly and he’s going to need live action minutes to accomplish that

Ty got over a million dollars on the bench in the last 2 years. What a dream…

Happy for Ty. I’ll be in the camp of glad he made the right decision for himself. Coming off 2 years not playing and hoping to insert yourself somewhere in the rotation of a preseason Top 5 team is a tall order…Especially, when a lot of your game is predicated off being an explosive athlete and coming off a severe knee injury.

Best for both parties. Happy he’ll get a chance to play somewhere. Hoping it’s not MSU

Thank you TY !!! Best wishes for your future

We’re top 5 without Blackwell …

We’re #1 with him …
I don't care what we're ranked preseason....wanna be top 4 at end of season.

Bingo …

Tried to hint at it earlier this AM …

Hate seeing Ty go but the role just likely wasn’t going to be there for him next year …

I do think Lee could step into that role …
Does Ty go join Morez at Michigan or go to MSU?

Irrespective of the program's relationship to Ty, which by all accounts is sterling, I think where he goes will be telling. Whether he ends up a rotation player at a good program or maybe goes the lesser Power 4 or Big East route where he might get starters minutes.

According to Illini guys it’s Andrej or Blackwell, doesn’t sound like both

I was thinking of the kind of bigs that out-rebounded us in the Michigan and MSU games, and the first UConn game. 🙂

So 3 games out of the whole year?

I’m not against that archetype as a whole, but we’re talking about a backup and not Morez/Mara, Kohler/Cooper or even Reed level players.

Basing that off one game ? I mainly mean ultra athletic can get out and run. Etc. not a hoss. Small forward to power forward type

Basing it off the entire body of work of Ben Humrichous vs a guy who doesn’t do a whole lot other than be large and jump high.
