Bingo …

Tried to hint at it earlier this AM …

Hate seeing Ty go but the role just likely wasn’t going to be there for him next year …

I do think Lee could step into that role …
There is a 5" height difference between them.

To go along with everything else I just said about Andrej, with a full offseason to work on his game, I fully expect his three-point percentage to be at a much more median number. I certainly think somewhere in the 30-33% range is very doable. Better than that and he becomes very, very difficult to guard.

Stojakovic is priority one for me personally.
I guarantee he knows... With his dad's NBA connections, I'm sure he gets regular feedback. The only thing really holding him back from getting there is a reliable 3 point shot. (even if its just from the short corner) He doesn't have to be great from out there, but he has to be a threat.

He could also use a bit of work on court awareness when he gets downhill. He has a tendency to get tunnel vision when he gets by his defender. When help comes, he needs to be more willing to find his teammates. They are also very good players. Tough to break some of those habits when you've played on so many teams that need you to be "The Guy". We need that guy occasionally, but mostly he just needs to be one of the the guys.

Ty is Illini forever. Despite not playing was a big part of establishing and maintaining culture the last few years. Definition of EDG.

With that being said, was not expecting to need him next year. Hopefully he finds a great fit and will succeed. I'll be rooting for him.
do you want to play against him next year? i sure don't. hate to see him in madison, iowa city or Bloomington.
first guy on the floor for every loose ball. and he'd shoot 50% against us!

Priority 1 … Get Andrej deal completed …

Priority 2 … Get the Blackwell deal completed …
You must not be on X because Illinination is convinced it’s one or the other right now…

My feed was absolutely slammed with those posts. I’m assuming a paywall site hinted at such for it to take such a life of its’ own.

Ty certainly could have a role on next year's team...but that role would seldom have him on the floor for more than 10 min. If more than that, it would likely be to shut down a guy like Sandifort and the like. He likely wants and certainly deserves more. Competitors like Ty want to compete...not watch....and he has done enough watching. He wants to play, and he will for a team that needs his skillset. He will be fine and will always be an Illini. Like everyone here, I wish him only great success and offer my deep bow of respect.

The unfortunate part of the recent successes of the Illinois basketball program coupled with expanded rosters is that some truly wonderful young men that fans like and want to see play will languish on the bench where their talent and passion wither away. There is little that can be done about that of which I am aware other than to allow them to find a new home where their talent and passion can find opportunity. There are already over 100 kids every year who have an NBA dream for every one that makes it there.

I’ve got a feeling it’s almost a certainty Louisville is going to offer more $’s than Illinois will for Mr. Blackwell.

Ty to the portal per ESPN
Not really a surprise. Would have had limited minutes. And last time he was faced with a limited minutes prognosis, he decided to sit “to work on his point guard skills.” Yeah, right. If that were true, why were we so desperate to get a PG last portal season?

I appreciate his contributions to the E8 team. I hope he’s healthy for next year and finds a good landing spot. Good luck to him.

I really thought Lee was shorter than that (or less tall, since he is taller than I am either way, can't really call him short).
It's an illusion, because our team is so stinking big... If you aren't weirdly tall, you look short on TV.

My wife kept calling Kylan "that little guy" during the tournament... I'm like "Honey if he walked in the room right now, the last thing you'd be thinking is "little guy".
