Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread

really like where we are at this point. The last 3-4 years have been especially fun with all the drama of portal season. Underwood has built a great program. I've been a fan for a long long time and I see a lot of momentum right now. Just to give you an idea how far I go back, anyone ever heard of Nick Witherspoon?

QC or Morillo I am a bit more nervous about dropping sort of like Jeremiah Fears did when we pulled in better players. Maybe Coleman more? Since I could see him wanting a star role, but we’ll see. I think this year sounds like the play Brad is selling is a focus on the team, and your progression and draft stock will rise because of that, and less about a full focus just on your individual draft stock rising.
There was much more to Jeremiah situation. He wanted to reclassify like Riley did and I don't believe the staff was in agreement. IMO had more to do with reclassifying than bringing in better talent

Still UCLA, Louisville, Illinois, or Duke for John Blackwell and nobody knows what he’s going to do at this point. All speculation.

That's LUDIcris?

Yeah I have way too much time on my hands now.

This is a good pause for distractions??.....I was almost murdered by fire ants Wed after not seeing a nest while walking around my yard in flip flops
(dumba$$ ) and ended up in the ER. I Black(well)ed out a few times! Bit me so many times my blood pressure crashed!
Combined with #theRetention, one of the craziest days ever!
Colonoscopy cancelled. :ROFLMAO:

Ok, back to jump scares with questionable reaction posts.

You took drastic action to avoid the colonoscopy.

In all seriousness though, that sounds awful. Hope you are feeling better now.

They’re after him … But if we want the kid and went full go rodeo …

North Carolina can’t hang with us financially …
Sure sucks for UNC not to have any alumni that ever did anything. Especially in basketball.

That's wild. They've been a monster on the recruiting trail for as long as I can remember.

I am, yeah. This year didn't go that well, but the same guy went 18-2 in the ACC cleaning up Kenny Payne's mess the prior year, has a really lengthy and high quality mid-major resume prior to that and clearly has an appeal to good players.

If I were a Louisville fan I'd be feeling real confident about the immediate future.

People used to ding BU for a lack of tournament success, but in both cases I say look to the fundamentals. A coach that can attract good players and win in the crucible of a major conference is going to find success in March if by nothing else than getting enough dice rolls to get lucky.
The difference is that when people were saying that about Brad, he was 4-7 at Illinois and had made a second weekend at another school. Pat Kelsey has had enough opportunity to prove it in my eyes.

I will say that not having his best player in the tournament this year was a bummer. But the expectations for the season were not met… again

Is it crazy? That the first 1 and dones at Illinois were KJ & Riley and about to add Wagler to that list. I am not counting Richmond who only played freshman year in Champaign and then was done (not as in NBA). Go Illinois.

I go back to Downey, Brody, Burwell, Pierce, Starnz, etc. I'm not going to be around forever so I hope there's a Championship in the near future.
Downey and Brody were my back yard hoops teammates as we won the B$G every day with me hitting the winning basket !!!!

they really really were...............

Anyone know if Blackwell grew up an Illini fan? I know his dad went here but was he rooting for us as a kid?

PSA ALERT:

Seriously though, just get it done. I had colorectal cancer at 41 years old. No genetic disposition. No...um... recreational exploration of that region... Just happened.
People are getting it at younger ages every year.

It literally saved my life. (5+years cancer free)
