I like Blackwell better.. he killed Illinois & i was thinking during that game that we could use someone like him. With that being said, how long do you wait? The staff been talking to him & daddy has been in his ear.

I'm gonna guess this Zens commitment puts an end to Illinois' roster construction unless another player or two transfers (Jakstys? Lee?). I was pretty confident that Blackwell would join, but the longer this takes, the less hopeful I am. And seeing as both Vaaks and Coleman haven't signed yet but Zens has, I'm guessing they feel good about the roster as it stands but won't be thrilled to see JB jump on board. JMHO.

I don't. Vaaks gives you a guy that can play PG (has some similir traits as Keaton and KJ). We didn't have any other obvious guys on the roster like that and Blackwell is a guy that's looking to score.

Vaaks and Blackwell were never mutually exclusive. Both together would be an absolutely elite backcourt.

That said, I'd also be thrilled with Cox.

To be fair, Brad Sturdy is one of the Illini experts saying the Blackwell dream is dead apparently. I'm not on his site, but someone made mention of it on another Illini forum. Guessing we'll all know soon enough.

For me the Blackwell watch is pretty easy now that Andrej is back.

If he doesn't want to be here, we didn't want him anyway. We can't mess this locker room up.
So if he's not all in, it wasn't going to be a fit.

I still say his best opportunity is to buy into this team. He's definitely going to get more opportunity on the ball which could be huge for him (NBA) and us if he were to flourish in that role.
