I think that Vaaks and Cox could each play on the ball or off the ball while in a game together. That's what Wagler and Boswell did so well at times this past season. Do you know or have a guess as to what the price tag for Cox would be compared to what the price tag would've been for Blackwell?

I’ll trust Brad & Co. on their read of the newcomers in regards to being ready to compete for a title… but I think we’d need a significant PG to do so.Illinois will not be adding a significant piece….More a depth piece, if that. They really like the freshman. So don’t expect a significant addition.
But I’m also not paid millions to build and lead a successful program so I’ll shut up

Assuming you mean Blackwell, he's junior, not a freshman. He started 1 game as a freshman.

Can anyone tell me what this Jaxson Davis kid can do? Lightning with the ball? Great passer? Defender? But most importantly, can he shoot 40% from the arc in B1G play? We have been droolingly jealous of Brayden Smith for 8 years. I am thinking why not get one of our own?

Agreed, Coleman is very good. High IQ. Love his game.
If that's the "idea" the staff was presenting to Blackwell, then no surprise we are apparently no longer on his list, IMO.

I'd imagine his NIL ask is pretty reasonable. Some decent kibble, a supply of treats, and a few tennis balls and should be able to lock him down.

I would take either NC state guard to be honest though I think there is more upside in Able.My dream has new life!!!!!!
McNeil is a sharpshooter with good size at the guard spot. You take him and simply play him off ball and are basically set.
Able isnt the same shooter as McNeil but still shows promise(35.5% from 3 and nearly 80% from the line as a freshman), but he's got a bigger frame, long arms, and is a more explosive athlete. The kid was a 5 star recruit last year, had a good freshman year, and I think he could turn into a plus perimeter defender with the ability to attack the basket and knockdown shots on the perimeter.
If Blackwell is out on Illinois then go get one of them and you can play 2 of Vaaks, Coleman, and McNeil/Able at all times at your guards spots.
Can he slow down Morez when Mirk has to sit?

Getting Boswell back wouldn't be a bad thing but getting that 5th year for guys would benefit other schools that graduated a bunch of talent far more than the Illini.

I don’t know. Just watching his tape he’s a bit undersized and seems to dribble too much.
This is has very little depth, which is going to hurt us.
