Sucks Brandon's leaving but I get it
I kinda think that Blackwell should go to UCLA and finish seventh while Wisc takes the B1G title and we win the NCAA tourney. Let that stick in his craw?I don't know exactly what Blackwell's demands were, but the idea that they just watched an Illini team with three different guys who bring the ball up and multiple guys capable of getting their own shot go to the Final Four, and now he's like nah I don't want that because I won't get used enough? Sounds like he should have just stayed at Wisconsin.
When the "portal closes"... I assume that means when college players can no longer ENTER the portal? But players who are already in the portal can still transfer to a new team after the date that the portal "closes"?I would expect Illinois to now add a guard once the portal closes.
Not likely too many backup minutes available there.I’d still like to see a big added.
I feel pretty good about our backcourt and wing depth. I just don’t know where the Ben minutes go and I think it’s risky to rely solely on Morillo and Z to back up Mirk.
Interesting, 247 shows that we offered Nasir Anderson on Feb 2, but we don't appear in their "College List - Interest" sectionThey like bigger guards. Nasir Anderson is their guy.
I'll take Norman Rockwell.
I agree completely, though that wasn’t the basis of the argument. The idea was Blackwell would be guard #5 behind Coleman, Vaaks, Morillo, and BrownI feel like the conversation should be more about Vaaks, Stojakovic and Mirkovic than 4/5 star freshmen when it comes to which players prevent John Blackwell from sporting a 35% usage rate next season
Rowan Brumbaugh?jalen cox?
Wasn't Blackwood a 3 star out of Michigan and a top 100 guy? Look what he did at Wisconsin in his freshman year. Why would we not think that a 5 star, top 30 guy, Coleman, couldn't accomplish as much as Blackwood did?
I was just going to ask if he had another year leftWelcome back SH?
pretty sure Blackwell would not be behind any of those guys unless we get another unicorn this yearDon't blame Blackwell. Would be rough going from top 2 guard on Wisconsin to #5 guard behind Coleman/Vaaks/Brown/Morillo
I am confused yet again. Are we talking about getting him for the next year, the 2027-28 season, and not this season? Isn’t Anderson in the class of ’27? Is he re-classifying?Illinois has slow-played Jaxson Davis, and he noticed.

He was WCC freshman of the year and 6th man of the year. Watched him twice against Oregon State. Got in foul trouble both games but very productive when he was in.I actually did not realize that- I was just going off our unofficial tracker of those we are interested in!
that is quite the rise for someone who didn’t start at Santa Clara
SMU.Rowan Brumbaugh?
cottage cheese and canned peaches was our way. Haven't eaten it since I was a kid though.

How about 6'3" junior G Tylen Riley (Tulsa)? [15.0/3.9/4.4 and 44.8/38.9/87.1] And how about 6'10" senior F Kyle Evans (UC Irvine)? [12.1/8.7/0.9 and 62.0/20.0/78.8]Does this give us 2 open roster spots now? Personally would love depth at 4, and a transfer guard in either a star or performance based split with Coleman to round out a stacked lineup
This transfer player would, in my opinion, help get Illinois closer to that championship we are all hoping for.My dream has new life!!!!!!

Until the parameters are finalized, there still exists a probability of this happening. That said, said probability may begin with a decimal...and maybe followed by a zero...or two...or three. If you view the complete list, there are almost 30 schools.
About the 5th year for Boswell. Even if they decide to change the rule, I think there's zero chance it applies right away.
