IL PoY as a freshman. IL PoY as a sophomore. A Chicago (IL) kid. Might want to make an exception for this particular short kid?

He plays at Warren. He’s not a Chicago kid. He’s a nice player but if Davion and Devin Cleveland didn’t transfer out of state they would be the top players.

Howard Williams and Jaylin Mitchell also left the state. He’s obviously a stud but literally all the top talent has left the state

We'll book it in now but realize it once the season starts.

Only guys who are capable of playing a minute of hotly contested big ten basketball: Vaaks, Coleman, Stojakovic, Mirkovic, Tomi, Z, Jake, and Morillo.

An injury somewhere which we always have, or someone may not pan out as good as we originally thought....and we'd be in trouble.

Guard depth is zero.

It felt like we had an opportunity to build a true championship contender. There's just no room for error with the way the roster's constructed.

This is has very little depth, which is going to hurt us.

Names 5 b10 caliber guards and claims 0 guard depth..

Why an overseas add and why not until mid-summer. Brad said it was important to have everyone there this summer. A summer international guy might not arrive until end of summer. Is it to save money vs pulling someone from the portal?

Would still love to see us get another 4 like Robbie Avila. Great basketball IQ, passer, three point shooter, teammate, and experience, and think he would be a trip seeing how his personality would gel on this team.

According to the number Vaaks was a better defender than everyone we have returning. Dunno if it was due to providence scheme or what
This is incorrect. Eye test and metrics both suggest otherwise. When Vaaks was on the court, Providence gave up 1.20ppp. Their team average was giving up 1.14ppp. When adjusted for level of competition, Vaaks still performed about .01ppp worse than would be expected from an average NCAA defender. As well relative to his teammates, he would be considered the second worst defender on the team based on Providence performance when any given player was on the floor.

For reference, Illinois gave up only 1.06ppp on average last season. No individual defender in Illinois' rotation resulted in worse Illinois defensive performance than Providence with Vaaks on the court. And as for Big Z, Illinois' best defender by the metrics, when he was on the court, Illinois only gave up 0.96ppp and when adjusted for level of competition he's considered .04ppp better than the average NCAA player, making him a Top 25 defender in the country based on individual defensive win share.

Now this isn't saying Vaaks is going to be a horrible defender here or that he can't improve, just that his performance last season certainly isn't commensurate with an elite defender.

I think you could see an addition sometime during the summer.

I expect one more, but they are (as has been said) very confident in the incoming freshman. My expectation is an add sometime June or July, probably from overseas.

On Kylan-that door is not closed if something is passed soon. I would not count on anything though.
How does a mid-summer signing agree with Brad's expressed desire to be able work with the full team for a full summer?
