Somebody said he was a Ben replacement. And Ben is a 4. So there is that.No one lost their mind about that. They correctly opined that he would not even be needed to. Which he will not be needed to do.

my breakdown.... Future NBA player $ay$ "anything at all " and some girl$ who dream of being the wife of a future NBA player just laugh and laugh and laugh.I don't understand any of this, but Mirk can apparently make anything silly.
If you're Duke, all you have to do to talk yourself into staying the course is glance over at UNC or UK and see how possible it is to swing and miss in a coaching search even with the blueblood pedigree and the resources.I won't speculate on how hot his seat might be at the current rate (meaning usually top 3 in final KenPom but losing in the E8 or F4) since seat hotness can be driven by the mob, and NCAAT results matter more than I think is fair. Though maybe if his teams keep blowing leads in spectacular fashion in the NCAAT a hot seat would be more reasonable.
But it isn't as though anyone could be handed the keys and do as well as he has. Spanning the time since he took over, they're #2 in Torvik compared to #14 KU, #19 UCLA, #21 UK, #22 UNC, #41 Indiana. Looking just at NCAAT games over that span, they're #5 compared to #1 UConn, #15 UCLA, #26 UNC, #42 UK, #43 KU, #59 Indiana.
Unless they can get Hurley himself (or there's some regression), I think it would be playing with fire to make his seat hot.
Feels like a Dook type recruit....kind of like Scheyer was. Would love to have him though.Cole Kelly has to be the guy for us.
Let's all agree to stop including IU in this category. That program is the furthest thing from college basketball royalty in modern day.I won't speculate on how hot his seat might be at the current rate (meaning usually top 3 in final KenPom but losing in the E8 or F4) since seat hotness can be driven by the mob, and NCAAT results matter more than I think is fair. The Duke fans I know hate him and don't think he can coach, fyi. If they are saying that and there is enough big money with the same thoughts, then it is possible.Jon Scheyer, who is tied for the best W-L % in mens' college basketball HISTORY (Mark Few) right now, being on any hot seat is certainly a take.
Thanks Grandpa.Ty would provide a few more wins playing D at the end of games.
Maybe not, the coaches might call a timeout and direct the best defenders to guard the entire court, everywhere except the basket.
Completely agree that fanbases (and administrators) are dumb and Duke is just as likely to end up with a Pope as a Hurley.I won't speculate on how hot his seat might be at the current rate (meaning usually top 3 in final KenPom but losing in the E8 or F4) since seat hotness can be driven by the mob, and NCAAT results matter more than I think is fair. Is Ty really still that bad on offense? I’m genuinely curious (especially what the insiders have to say re: practice). It’s been two years since we’ve seen him in game. I recall Mirk (near end of the season) lamenting being matched up in a shooting drill with Ty and two others (maybe Davis, one other). Perhaps it was just the others that were a problem but it caught my attention that he labeled Ty a “good shooter.”OR, because we'd be playing 4 vs 5 offensively, it would not be a net positive. The last time he did play for us, he didn't bother even looking at the rim from more than 10 feet out. Purdue didn't even bother guarding him. Running what we're running....he couldn't be on the floor.
I hope they do fire him- I think there's a better chance they regress rather than improveThe Duke fans I know hate him and don't think he can coach, fyi. If they are saying that and there is enough big money with the same thoughts, then it is possible.
It's a win either way when including them just shows how much they don't belongLet's all agree to stop including IU in this category. That program is the furthest thing from college basketball royalty in modern day.
I opened up the board today to see any recruiting news and realized I accidentally ended up on a Duke board. Gross.
I think UConn just did that in ‘23 and ‘24. Those were “all timers” — dominant teams that had enough carryover to be viewed singularly. Not ‘06/‘07 Florida carryover, but enough of the main rotation stayed imo.I think what Scheyer will struggle to replicate, for a variety of reasons, is the iconic all-timer nature of Coach K's 91-92 and 2001 teams. I don't know if the sport mints legends that way anymore.
He's doing an unusually good job at the impossible college sports task of replacing a legend though, I'll say that. They will be right in the mix again next year.
We should push for a home-and-home with them, I bet Scheyer would be into it, and we've had some great battles over the years in the dearly departed B1G-ACC Challenge.
at least, it's not a Cottage Cheese board.I opened up the board today to see any recruiting news and realized I accidentally ended up on a Duke board. Gross.
There were many fans and at least one insider on this board who hated BU and didn't think he could coach as of about a month-and-a-half ago. Fan sentiment and rationality don't always go hand-in-hand.The Duke fans I know hate him and don't think he can coach, fyi. Speaking of Ty did he catch on with anybody? I might of missed itIs Ty really still that bad on offense? I’m genuinely curious (especially what the insiders have to say re: practice). Is it possible that in a redshirt year, followed by a rehab year, where he has player exactly zero seconds of competition that wasn't closely supervised in practice....that he improved his shooting to the point where he's respectable? I guess that's debatable. Is Ty really still that bad on offense? I’m genuinely curious (especially what the insiders have to say re: practice). It’s been two years since we’ve seen him in game. He runs the risk of sitting on the bench at another school for way less $$$Speaking of Ty did he catch on with anybody? I might of missed it
DJ Shmirk!i take it more as he is a national name at this point. him and stoj should kill in NIL
Dook is way more disgusting than cottage cheese.at least, it's not a Cottage Cheese board.
Who was the last recruit we beat duke for? It wasn't Keene was it? Or has it been that long?Feels like a Dook type recruit....kind of like Scheyer was. Would love to have him though.
