Completely agree that fanbases (and administrators) are dumb and Duke is just as likely to end up with a Pope as a Hurley.

I don't think that will stop them from rabble rousing if JS makes it to year 5 without a championship game appearance.

(Completely unrelated and relevant to point 1...IU and UCLA have been replaced by Zona, UConn and arguably FL are more apt if we're talking about blue bloods)
Yeah, I chose the Wikipedia blue-bloods to avoid my own biases (I meant to include UConn in my all-games comparison, in which they're #4).

But as long as we're discussing who's a blue-blood, I certainly agree that IU and UCLA have played their way out for now, and several of the others are getting close. As for who to include, though, it's hard to make a good case for anyone except maybe Michigan. Here are Torvik's top 25s over the last 10 seasons (all games on the left, just NCAAT games on the right):

The only teams that are top 10 in both are Houston, Gonzaga, Duke, Michigan, and Texas Tech. Michigan is the only team with a championship during this span, plus they have a decent history and are trending in the right direction. Houston's rankings are great but they're missing the natty, Sampson's probably going to retire soon, and they were bad before his arrival in 2014. Gonzaga never got the championship and is trending down. Sorry TT, not sure how you made the cut with such inconsistency and only one really great year.

Expanding a bit beyond the top 10s, Florida is getting there, but they had a surprisingly number of bad seasons under Donovan and were much worse in 7 seasons under White. Baylor fell off from its peak, while Villanova and Auburn are even worse off with their current coaches. Purdue, Arizona, and Tennessee all probably need a championship and maybe even an additional deep run. So do we, and we have a bigger hill to climb than those.

Blue blood seems like a relic or the pre-NIL era. Recruiting cache back when money was under the table and kids stayed at one school...roster construction is so different now, and the delineation between haves and have nots is heavily tied to conference and program $$.

Even Cignetti on the football side, a true unicorn, was at a program with resources to work with.

The Duke fans I know hate him and don't think he can coach, fyi. If they are saying that and there is enough big money with the same thoughts, then it is possible.
If you visit a typical Blue Devils fan forum, the vast majority of Duke fans do not seem to share the sentiment of your Duke fan acquaintances. Here's a sample post season thread.

From the Elizabeth King Forum

Most fans seem very happy with the season the team had and with Scheyer's leadership. Of course there are always going to be some outliers. Heck, a couple of our fans probably still want Brad fired.

Scheyer's seat is all but certainly room temperature.

Question for those that know…has the uptick in BB NIL impacted the FB NIL? Or, to phrase it differently, how much is truly incremental.
