@LvilleILL1 any update as to where Ty could land?
Forgive me if it’s already been asked or discussed, but is there interest on both parties for him to come back? Do we have a roster spot from him if he were to come back? I love the guy and his leadership/hustle.

Also, a guy at work went to school with him so despite being an MSU fan, he’s grown a soft spot for Illinois because of Ty. I’d also really like to not lose him to MSU if possible…

If you told me Vaaks is an All American caliber player next year, I would not be surprised.
Same. His shot quality is going to be night and day from what happened at Providence.

In its simplest terms, we have a bunch of good players you have to guard so Stefan will have more space to work with, his passing ability will lead to more baskets because of the good players he’s playing with, and he will get better looks because the rest of his team doesn’t suck.

To me the primary worth of a basketball player is in the name. He must be able to put the ball in the basket...against anyone at anytime. I love having a team that can do that, not only from every position, but also from every level at every position. But I came to understand the importance of defense in order to win, as well as rebounding when the ball does not go in. These guys do that at a pretty high level, and Vaaks seems to be from that mold.

This team certainly has the talent and depth to do all those things at every position. Depth may come to haunt if major minute players get injured or get taken out of their contributing mode by opponents game plans.

Can't wait for Nov. to see what this puzzle offers when completed. I truly enjoy watching Brad fit the pieces together as well as watching the players meld into a team that is willing to fit together. Seeing them perform like clockwork and with a high level of confidence and competence is a salve to my passion. Should be another riveting season of watching Illini basketball, my 71st. It never gets old or does the passion wain.

was the sell to him one year or two years. at his size and shooting, I'm sure he's already on NBA radars right now. but curious if the staff targeted him as come in year one be all big ten player, year 2 be all American... like TSJ. or do they only expect him to be here 1 year only?

I guess that's up to him. They expect him to come here and work his tail off to be as good as he can be. Then assess at the end of the season. As the season progresses, it will become more clear.
We didn't even expect Keaton to play, much less be an All-American... by mid-season it was clear he wouldn't be ours for long... You just never know...

Gives me Bennet Stirtz vibes. Just needs to work on his D-Back agility drills with Fletch.
