Saint-Supéry signed with Valencia in Spain, which was where Sergio De Larrea was playing. (25th pick in the draft) They gave him a bunch of the money freed up from De Larrea's contract.

I think a lot of us underestimate how difficult it can be to move overseas at such a young age. He gets to be in his home country, up the coast from his hometown, and still make a bunch of money. As De Larrea illustrated, if you play well, you can still get drafted. Liga ACB, where he will be playing, is widely regarded as the best domestic basketball league outside the NBA.

Gonzaga also lost another one of it's starting guards Jack Kayil, to the draft. (#39 pick->Knicks) Many were expecting him to return in early projections, so the backcourt there is a huge question mark.

Man, Cayden Daughtery looks like an absolute stud. (no idea if we're still recruiting him, but did offer and was mentioned a few times)

Let me try and rephrase. Per our insiders (might have been Lville and FL), we have the money, the interest is there, so if we want to go all in on a reclass, we should be good. If he doesn't reclass, maybe not so much. That's where we currently sit.

I am going to choose to believe they are right because they drop knowledge the rest of us don't have. That is where we are today and it's a great position.

However, when it comes to MI..... absolutely nothing would shock me. They cut the nets down by raiding other programs with two of their three main players being transfers within the conference (Morez and Mara). One would think there would be some decorum and not poach within the league, but nope. Not MI.

I'm certain they'll have a sales pitch. They know recruits/parents are going to have the same questions we do. How will they handle that to make a winning pitch to anybody? I have absolutely no clue.

What I do know is that they were in a similar predicament in football(for far worse reasons), they hired a guy out of retirement, with ties to our highest ranked recruit(a QB no less) and in the blink of an eye, he decommits from us and commits to them. Don't think anyone had Willingham on their bingo card.

They still have the brand and they still have the money. The rest of it.....how the season plays out will tell the story. I'd love for Pettigrew to sign in November before anything positive materializes.

I think it's really both. Makes way more financial sense for him and he gets to go home and play in a great spot.

4 years 15 million fully guaranteed is far better than what he was likely making at Gonzaga(2 mil?) and I believe euro deals are reported as net pay after taxes so that would be equivalent to making like 25 million over the next 4 years in the US.

So he gets to go home, gets set for life guaranteed money and could still end up eventually being drafted if he wants to go that road. Plus the draft situation is better since he doesn't have to declare and can stay in Europe until he feels it's the right move.

Liga ACB doesn't impress me overall. There is a lot of crap in there. The fact that it is Valencia who is also part of Euroleague means its likely a very good stepping stone.

Side note: Real Madrid and Barcelona are the other real Liga ACB teams and they are also part of Euroleague.

And remember that EU salaries are usually announced as the take home pay, post tax.

much better trajectory, much better size, much better positional flexibility, much better defensive versatility. other than that, I don't see it
