I have to say...no. They aren't playing Mizzou and ND.Is the Missouri game still on?
I would too but I'm sure there's some TV network politics or whatever.I would rather play Missouri for a few reasons
This will be the very first power regular season non-conference matchup setup by AD Josh Whitman.
The Notre Dame series replaces Missouri on Illinois' 2027 and 2028 schedules.
In addition to the Notre Dame game, Illinois has added FIU to the schedule on Aug. 28, 2027. The Illini will no longer play Eastern Illinois in 2027.
2027 Illinois Football Opponents

The Illini and Irish will play in South Bend on Sept. 4, 2027 before meeting in Champaign on Sept. 2, 2028.fightingillini.com
Hope so! I like the series, but it would be great to have a warm up game first.2028:
9/2 - Notre Dame (home)
9/9 - Illinois State (home)
Ohio is listed as TBD but I'm assuming that will be 8/26?
Are bowl games fun? Is making the 24 team playoff fun? Because playing both would make either of those less likely.Would love to have ND and Mizzou on the schedule. Big games are more fun than a free win.

It is a fact that JW has run this athletic department very successfully on a "fake it til you make it" basis since literally his first day.
I’m genuinely answering as a fan only, but it depends on the bowl game. The ones in early December featuring 5-7 teams shouldn’t even exist, and my excitement for those (even with Illinois) is very low. I personally love the exposure of a series like this. Are bowl games fun? Is making the 24 team playoff fun? Because playing both would make either of those less likely.
Praying the boys finish strong, steal a couple upsets down the stretch, and the big money donors finally recognize the coaching masterclass Bret/Barry/Roger have been putting on. Back up the Brinks truck for a stud DC, keep Cooper in Champaign, and open the NIL floodgates. If we could increase football NIL by $10M-$15M, I'd feel better about this agreement.
Is it possible this sort of aggressive scheduling is a way to entice those donors? If we could increase football NIL by $10M-$15M, I'd feel better about this agreement.
