Not a surprise that TP was not the right guy but big props to BB to have the stones to make the change to whomever that change may be. Good coaches make tough decisions and this is one that had to be made.

Some were suggesting he give this more time. But the time to fire a guy is when you know he's not right.

He did such a great job assembling this staff but TP was always a head scratcher.
So clearly the odd man out on that staff.

Seems like a friendly and congenial guy, but he's no Ryan Walters. Beyond the obvious football deficiencies, someone on here once pointed out the difference between his pressers as compared to BB and Walters. (Seemed that TP was always trying to escape after just 7-8 minutes.)

A quick search on Twitter of his name will see 1. Arkansas fans love him and see him as potential future HC 2. Him being mentioned (by fans that is) from jobs such as South Carolina, Florida, etc. based on his work this year at UTSA. Seems like a very solid hire.

Top UTSA offensive playmakers:

3 WR: All Juniors
1 RB: Junior
QB Harris: Senior

Given the Covid ruIes, I assume that means the juniors have 2 years of remaining eligibility. Harris probably has one......in the event any of these guys choose to follow him north to the Power 5..

Looking into his background, he helped develop Hunter Henry at Arkansas. If we get even half that production from Luke Ford, we'll be in better shape than we were. Excited to have an OC that actually knows how to use TE's in the passing game unlike Petersen and any offensive coach Lovie hired

Hard to believe that the basketball team can win a B1G game by 20+ and all I'm thinking about is football
It was a boring (in a good way) bb game so I kept sneaking peeks at this thread. LOL
I've been a diehard Illini fb fan since the Butkus days, UIUC undergrad during the dismal Moeller years.
Added Illini bb to my fandom with the Lou Henson hire.
I love it. This BB guy is a lot better than Moeller! LOL
And BU just might get close to Lou Henson level some day, maybe.

I'm not willing to thumb through years of Illinois football coaching staffs so I'll put it out in the ether and see if anyone knows: What was the last year that Illinois football's coaching staff didn't have any turnover?

This didn't age well. I'm shocked they moved on from Peterson. Lunney would be an impressive hire. Wonder if that means we are shifting back to more mobile QBs? What does this mean for DeVito? Not impressed with Hatcher and hope there is a better target if the staff is going to hit the reset button on who's next year's QB. DeVito isn't a traditional running QB but he was willing to scramble at Syracuse.

Depends on if he knew that TP was going to be canned, IMO.
Or DeVito just really likes BB, maybe, who knows.
I think we'll find out soon.
