I'm not sure about this Blue Out idea for Friday night. Hopefully we can pull it off and it will look cool, but it's going to pain me to not wear Illini orange at the game. Blue just doesn't "pop" the way orange, or even white, does. IMO...
Should we assume at this point that Platt has decided officially or un-officially to not play this season ?
Absolutely. It was a short-sided move thinking that they should be winning national championships consistently. They had one down year the year before he was fired (2002), but in 2003 when he was fired after the regular season, the team was 9-3 (apparently losing to Kansas State at home was the unforgiveable last straw). It was the first time a coach was fired after finishing with at least 9 regular season wins due solely to team performance.Yes indeed. Nearly 40 years of Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne created a fan base that couldn't stomach a single 0.500 season. Firing Solich at that time (~ '01) was an egregious own-goal.
I'm sorry, but I don't think athletes playing a game they love ever have thoughts like that during game action, JMHO.i wonder if some of Washington's unwillingness to scramble was more "business decision" than great Illinois defensive scheme. certainly not discounting what we did on defense, only pointing out that Washington may be more concerned about next year's NIL than this year's W-L record. doubt that'll be the case with Colandrea.
My warmest hoodie is blueI agree. I have a lot of orange and only one blue hoodie. Any weather reports.
