Illinois was offsides on the attempt.Would love to have different angles and hi res frame by frame, but was glad to see I'm not the only one crazy enough to still be wondering about that 1Q field goal as well.

If this was college bball - where seeding can come down to how your opponents perform - I’d agree. Since we auto make a bowl game at 6-6, I wanna see Indiana lose consistently the rest of the way. That's my petty instinct, but I want them at least be 6-6 so the loss holds up at the end of the season

The fact that the announcers were supportive of his antics made it even worse. The man is a borderline psychopath. Where else in society could someone behave like that and have a job???I didn't realize how much I dislike Tom Allen until the four-plus hours watching that excruciating heartbreaker last night.
Dub , I'm laughing so hard , but part of me want's to cry with the correlation of truth in this gif.................
Luke has been a total mystery his entire Illini career.I don’t think Luke ford is ever going to pan out
The Illinois pass rush during that last drive was ...for a lack of words....awwwfull!Just needed one guy...any guy to make one big play on that final drive and no one stepped up. Indiana stepped up...Illini wilted.
After being forced to watch Tom Allen scream like a lunatic after every single call and then run off the field like he just won the Super Bowl….yeah I’m good with thatI want Indiana to lose every game they play this year. That is all.
I would be highly surprised if the ruling wasn’t he didn’t get his hand under/gain control of the ball before it hit the ground during the initial catch attempt — making the portion of the “play” you’re talking about irrelevant.Another aspect of the touchdown that was taken away, watch the rest of the play. When the ball comes loose, the receiver lunges forward and grabs the ball with 1 foot still on the ground and not out of bounds.
Did a long term project with an aerospace company and we used to joke that a meeting wouldn't end until the combined blood pressures in the room went up by at least 500 points. Those people made Allen look like the Alma Mater. Remarkable how ineffective all that yelling can be.The fact that the announcers were supportive of his antics made it even worse. Anyone who watched the replay from all the angles can clearly see it was a catch. Hightower came down with the ball in both hands and the defender had one on it. When he hit the ground he still had control of it with his hand underneath keeping control while the defenders hand came off. That is a touchdown all day! Everything that happened after that was irrelevant. The defender reached back in to strip it away as he was getting up. Ball came out when play was already over. One of the worst calls on replay I have ever seen period!!!I would be highly surprised if the ruling wasn’t he didn’t get his hand under/gain control of the ball before it hit the ground during the initial catch attempt — making the portion of the “play” you’re talking about irrelevant.

I wasn’t arguing whether it was a catch or not, just saying that the narrative that he “caught it twice” is meaningless because it is very likely that the incomplete ruling — right or wrong — was made when they were on the ground not after he got up and whether or not he was in bounds on the “re-catch.”Anyone who watched the replay from all the angles can clearly see it was a catch. The only thing the prevent defense prevents is the other team from not scoring.1. Stop making penalties!
2. Never run the prevent defense again
3. The replay official needs to go back to replay school
But if you have access to the replay you will notice that the official calls nothing on the original 'catch'. He doesn't signal incomplete until after the bobble towards the sideline.I wasn’t arguing whether it was a catch or not, just saying that the narrative that he “caught it twice” is meaningless because it is very likely that the incomplete ruling — right or wrong — was made when they were on the ground not after he got up and whether or not he was in bounds on the “re-catch.”
I thought it was a catch based on seeing the play live. I will say though that we had more than a half of football to overcome that terrible call, and we couldn’t do it. Honestly, I’m more disappointed in that than I am angry over the call.
On to the VA game. I L L
I feel like we didn't hit our stride until game 4 last year.Remember the saying.."...the most improvement for our team is between the first game and the second game". When was the last time Illinois went 2-0? Maybe we should re-write most improvement from game 2 to game 3?
