The technical was a BS call, but it happened with 5 minutes left in first half. Yes, Illini did not finish out half well, but I don’t think the technical foul had any impact on the 2 TOs and 2 missed layups that occurred after it.
I believe it resulted in a quick 5 points gifted to Indiana. Should have been an and 1 for CH, two technical foul shots, then I believe Indiana scored on the possession. Now, maybe they would have scored on the ensuing possession anyway, but it made at minimum 3 point difference at the time. Your point is certainly well taken, but in a close road game those calls always have a huge impact and the league has to address officiating sooner or later. The players know it, the fans know it, and the coaches know it. When will the AD's and university admins demand better management of the product on the floor/field?

Agree to disagree. The technical foul was a nut punch.
Should we have responded better? Perhaps. But the technical was still a nut punch.
If the technical had as big an impact as some seem to think then this team is not what we thought they were. I just don’t see how this team can win more than one game in NCAA tournament if it can’t overcome some adversity like that — albeit created by a BS call — with 25 minutes remaining in game.

Well yes, this team isn't what many thought.

Are we a little responsible for creating our own adversity? If so, eliminating that would be a good first step.

The other aspect of the T other than momentum was Hawkins had to sit. I believe it was his 2nd foul and BU didn’t want him to get a 3rd.

Yes we should have overcome it but gifting IU 2 points destroying the flow and sitting a hot player with TSJ out affects the game. it was not the reason we lost but it changed the game

It was a bad call but Coleman gave the refs a reason to call it. We had a 9 point second half lead and couldn’t close. I think a better debate is why we struggled at the end. Freshman mistakes….not ready for the moment. We’ve closed out games with the lead the same way and had enough cushion that it didn’t matter. Players make plays and Indiana made more plays at the end when the game was on the line. This will hopefully help us down the road but who knows.

Someone explain this sequence to me, please. Illini are up 7 when Indiana gets an offensive rebound surrounded by 3 Illini. Indiana player falls to the floor facing the baseline rolls over, sits up, passes out for a 3 pointer. Two possessions later the game is tied. Why wasn't traveling called? This was late in the second half and we never led again!

I'm not to harp too much on the officiating because we did shoot more FTs and benefited from some calls too but wow is this one bad

Officiating college basketball, I believe, is the toughest of all sports to officiate - so many split second decisions, tough to see everything, etc. and the calls impact the game so much- it frankly ruins many games. But regardless of how difficult it is Kelly Pfeifer really needs to be reprimanded in some form or fashion for this game by the big ten. Not only did he call the tech, he was the one with the right angle looking right at the Harris drive and blow to the head that wasn't called, when you look at the tape, he had many bad calls - really tough one to explain.

Ok fine. I won't die on this hill.

But I will lay down and throw a childish tantrum and demand tater tots, mac n' cheese, and Luke Goode at the end of that game.
I think we can all agree that's fair 😂

Let's hope we can come out with good energy tonight and get up comfortably early and run a bunch of sets on the second half for Goode and RJ. Get Goode back in game rhythm and one last ditched effort to right RJs ship for the season..

If RJ doesn't sad to say but he's probably looking at 5-10 mins a game in a defensive energy role from here on out. Really rooting for the kid

At least we don’t have this guy…

If Coleman deserved a tech, then this dude should preemptively be hit with with a TF before each tipoff just for historic posterity.

Oh, and speaking of Kofi’s wayward son, there’s this:

I’m not a licensed psychiatrist; so take my dimestore diagnosis with a grain of salt.
But that dude’s got some almost sociopathic tendencies IMO.

Like someone mentioned in your link…I get a real Greyson Allan vibe off of him.

I never heard of Allen being a jack@ss off the court. Maybe he was, but most of Dikclesson's seem to have little to do with basketball and more to do with him appearing to be a horrible human being.

Agreed about the T on Coleman. Bush league by the refs. I mean if he got in his face, cussed him. Has Coleman said anything about what he said?

Watching the OSU WVU game earlier tonight a T was assessed after a dunk but in that case the player got in the other player’s face and started to scream.
