Would love another shot at IU in the BTT
⬆️ If I could add a caveat to this, it would be with a full & healthy rotation, which we didn’t have for either game.
Unfortunately we want another chance at several conference teams

Iowa
Indiana
Maryland
Penn st
⬆️ Loosiers will always be the team I most want us to beat like a piñata every time out!

There were two more egregious non-traveling calls:

Bates jumped to shoot and then switched to dribbling instead. That one is called 99%+ of the time but somehow wasn’t.

Reneau dove on the floor to grab the ball. Rolled over as he passed it to a teammate.

BIG reffing is atrocious.

We really need to add challenges to the college game just like they did w/ the NBA. I'd rather have 1 challenge per half than the automatic under 2-minute review. It's often the case that a call early in a half has more swing on momentum than a call under 2 minutes.

Unfortunately I believe Coleman has gotten the reputation with officials that he’s always yapping and it influenced the quick T after the dunk. Based on the exchange on Twitter between Coleman and TJD, I’m almost convinced that Big 10 games would be better officiated if the players just made their own calls like they were on the playground.
Seems at least one former B1G player might agree with you.

Interesting that this is the hill you're willing to die on when so many are using common sense to counter..

16 seconds is plenty of time to try and force a 10 second call in the backcourt and get the ball down 1 with 6 seconds to go instead of blindly fouling. Indiana had no timeouts

And RJs quickness and athleticism are more than Goode in that scenario

It didn't work out that way, they got it over the top, we didn't get to foul and got stuck with our shooter on the bench but the logic was there

Ok fine. I won't die on this hill.

But I will lay down and throw a childish tantrum and demand tater tots, mac n' cheese, and Luke Goode at the end of that game.

A couple things. First, you would need about 5 challenges per half and you would still run out! Second, with the pace of the game, it would be hard to challenge something when you don’t have time to have someone review it.

The NFL doesn't allow challenges on foul calls. So an NFL type challenge wouldn't help much. Although a challenge on out of bounds calls could give back a few possessions per game. lol

I hate that "guys upstairs" have time to review it. The MLB and NFL allow this and it doesn't make sense to me. If you as the coach/manager think the ref got it wrong in real time, you know, like the same time the ref had...then challenge. You shouldn't get the benefit of some video guy scouring for 30 seconds.

I think the dumb technical foul on hawkins was the point where everything just started to break down.
They had every opportunity to win this game.
The technical was a BS call, but it happened with 5 minutes left in first half. Yes, Illini did not finish out half well, but I don’t think the technical foul had any impact on the 2 TOs and 2 missed layups that occurred after it.

Tough loss. Feel bad for RJ and like everyone else, so wanted that last shot to go in for him. Prior to game, I posted that I thought Illini needed a combined 12 points from RJ and Luke to get a win. Believe they ended up with 9.

Agree to disagree. The technical foul was a nut punch.
Should we have responded better? Perhaps. But the technical was still a nut punch.
