Just watched the game we missed too many free throws in the 2nd half also we were 0/ 7 from 3 point land additionally we were probably 0 for 10 on layups the entire game Meyer and Hawkins disappeared in the 2nd half epps needs to quick shooting the 3 he needs to get the ball to the right person at the end of the game this is 2 out of 4 games hes taken the shot No loss is a good loss. I hate harping on this fact these officials were horrible!

Well, Mr. Competitive, you might have loved the game a bit less if Illinois had its leading scorer in the lineup today.

I expected the worse, but I saw a terrific college game. Hopefully, Illinois can build on this performance. I was impressed with the defensive rotations on the post, since this is somewhat out of character for this team. The 3 point shooting continues to be inconsistent. But most of all I liked the fight and intensity of this team in hostile territory. On to the next challenge.

I wish I could like this reaction twice.

3 point swing, and killed the vibe of the game. We were running them out of the gym at that point in the game. Its not the sole reason we lost the game, we missed a lot of bunnies, but I feel we could have pushed it higher than 8 at that point, and no telling what the game would have looked like.
That dunk capped off a 7-0 run for us to go up 8, should have been an "and 1" to possibly go up 9. Instead, the 2 technical shots started a 7-0 run for Indiana to cut it back to 1. Huuuuge call in the game. And a bad call as well.

For 3-4 seconds? Because then you're fouling. I'm 99.999% sure Goode can foul. Then after the FT's what do you want?

Goode. Period. End of debate.
Post got my mind moving. Why didn’t Indiana foul?? Maybe that’s what they were trying to do when IU peeled off of RJ, but didn’t execute.
Seems exact same situation as Iowa game.

Maybe this was mentioned.

Can anyone recall a questionable tech on an Illini OPPONENT that gave us momentum in a big game? I certainly can’t. My favorites of recent vintage are the Trent “cash” tech, RJ saving himself from serious injury by hanging on the rim like everyone does vs. Houston and today’s poor judgement call. Yes, we are conditioned to recall the ones that hurt us more than the ones that help, but have there been any of the latter? Ever?

But... it didn't give them momentum. We continued stretching the lead after that. If anything it fired up our team.

We literally do not find a way to make luck happen. It's just these 5050 situations that we can never put in our way to either stretch out a lead or put the pressure on the other team.

P.s. that white haired ref should retire. Like 10 years ago.
What was that dudes problem? It all seemed personal with him. Waaay worse than the TVTed in my memory. Instead of retire, he should be fired.

No matter who was on the floor at the end of the same, the chances of anyonee making a 35 foot jump shot from te sideeline are not hgh.
Given tthe odds of anyyone making the shot, hard to point to an error in coaching judgmeent as accounting for muchh variancee in explaining the loss.

What game were you watching? Dunk made it 34 - 26 with 5:07 left in the half. At 2:48 it was 34-33. Half score was 38 - 35. We scored 4 points in the last 5 minutes after the dunk. Continued stretching the lead?
Yeah, because ALL momentum was sucked at of the Illini. That is why it was such a putrid call.

I am quite impressed with his ability to drive to the basket and laiy the ball off the glass, often from difficult angles.

I was wondering if he might make the all Big Ten freshman team?

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately I believe Coleman has gotten the reputation with officials that he’s always yapping and it influenced the quick T after the dunk. Based on the exchange on Twitter between Coleman and TJD, I’m almost convinced that Big 10 games would be better officiated if the players just made their own calls like they were on the playground.

Would I rather have seen MM or Epps take that last shot...sure....but MM was covered (in fact he was the one that gave the ball up to RJ)....not sure where Epps was at without watching again....but would I want MM to put up a heavily contested shot from 20-25ft (and miss) with RJ being wide open on the wing...nope....and my guess is that there would be several on here saying the MM should have given it up instead of forcing a long contested 3 if that had happened.....MM made the right pass...RJ took the right shot....it just didn't go in....as a player, coach, and fan that's all you can hope for. No criticism warranted

It was a great game back and forth. The crowd was loud and some plays by both teams. Can’t forget that Dain is only a freshman. In playing time. Beat Mn and hope Ty gets to feeling better.
