As the saying goes, at this point in the season, the freshmen ain't playing like freshmen no mo.
However, the freshmen played like freshmen at the end of this game and it contributed to the loss..

The loss hurts, given the way it happened. But I came in expecting to lose this one. I saw a lot to like about our play, and I'm pleased with the incredible effort in an incredibly tough environment.

I think we win 4 of our last 5, at least. No idea what to expect in the postseason. It's like others have said...I could see this team beating anyone or losing to anyone. But today's game is more of a positive indicator than a negative, IMO.

Hurts to lose a game like this, where we were up nearly 10 down the stretch. However, the fight was there for 40 minutes without a key player for us. IU was at near full strength. Moral victories don't count, but I will take a loss with the intensity and fight that we showed. Hard to win on the road.

Shannon needs to get healthy for the stretch run. Need to take care of business at home the next two weeks and win at OSU. That will put us in good shape. Who knows, the game at Purdue is also winnable the way they have played lately.

Lots of basketball to play. Go 4-1 down stretch, we should easily be 6 or 7 seed in tourney. Time to take out some anger on the Gophers Monday!
F that. Minny should not require indignant anger to win. Nor should OSU. Save the indignant anger for Purdue or NW...or Mich.

I would guess that it was assumed a foul would happen on the press, which would then allow a sub to get Goode in. But they managed to get a good trap and the defense pressured because of it. Indiana managed to escape and then Illinois couldn't foul. This made it so RJ stayed in the game for the offensive possession.

I don't hate it, sound strategy and then it's just the way it played out.

Goode really made some winning plays out there today and it's a great sign going forward.

He also had a corner 3 with about 3 minutes to go when we had just taken a 2-point lead and gotten a stop and his ball was halfway down....that thing goes in we are up 5 and I think we hold on.

And those 50/50 balls that we weren't quite about to dig out really killed us.

Great effort today and I still believe it's going to come together when we all want it to the most. The difference between winning and losing games like this and at Iowa is such small, fine line and we are so close and I think we'll get over the hump in March. Go Illini

And RJ had a great look and put up a good shot, but in the context of his current case of the yips its easy to criticize.

This is a tough one to swallow. Lots of little mistakes in the last 5 minutes added up - 2nd chance points for IU after a good defensive series, too many shots by the wrong guys, a bad foul by Ty, Mayer not getting at least a touch on the second to last possession, breakdown on the press, not having Goode in at the end.

Lots of good pieces on this team, but the whole is less than the sum of the parts

The only way I have RJ in the game there is if the bench got a call from the police that the person with the RJ Melendez voodoo doll is now in custody.

Ok, run a play for RJ.

Short of that nonsense.....whatever slight advantage defensively you get with RJ over Goode...for 3 or 4 seconds.....is completely dwarfed by the advantage of having Goode available for a game tying/winning 3.

As for "expecting" a foul for a sub.....you see how well that panned out.

There's just absolutely no solid reason to have RJ in there.

I agree with everything you said. The tournament will be so open i don’t think it matters much what our seed is. It’s just a question of playing with intensity and we can beat anyone.

Not sure what’s more frustrating, the missed lay-ups or the second chance wide open 3 balls they drained over and over again.
RJ and Meyer's seeecond halfprhrees, they may never have that open of three the rest of their careers Frustrating

I am reasonblly sure Hawk said something to TJD like "in your face" piror to starrting his normal yell.

A game like this one can point to a number of would of , could of and should ofs.

Did you see thosee Whoosiers laughig afteer Epps missedd his first free thorow? I try not to usee the word hate, but Indiana tests my self-disapline

Maybe we will get another chancee n thee B10 tourney.

We really wasted that home game by not changing up our defense on TJD. Hope Coach Brad learns from this game.

TJD wound up with 26 but I thought our post trap was pretty effective. Showed we have the length and athleticism to recover. We may have found something there and that will help us in the tourney if we face a good big, and should help against Purdue.

Tough one to lose. Just felt like every loose ball bounced right to an IU player and they were able to hit 3’s. I bet they had 10+ points in the second half on broken plays. Bummer but I do think we are rounding into form for the tourney. Luke is very close. Freshmen playing great for the most part. Hopefully the silver lining is Shannon is rested for a stretch run, Will be wide open this year. Seeding doesn’t matter much. We are capable of going on a run.
