Yes and probably more, the problem is you can't download experience in the system into transfers, or familiarity with your team.

I think that is part of why parity seems to be at an all time high this year. I don't think there is a single team you just say wow, they're going to be tough to beat. You get these talented guys to transfer, but when you're thinking about what you're supposed to do, you won't be at your best. When you're not able to read your teammates and know what they're going to do, you won't be at your best.

So if you have an experienced team, you can fit a transfer in, especially if they bring a skillset you're lacking. But, I think if you're expecting new guys to lead your team, it is going to cause issues. We clearly saw massive chemistry issues at one point in our season. We've seen guys not be on the same page and not running the offense. In close games, it only takes a play or 2 lost to go from a W to an L.

If we get more transfers next year, which we surely will. I hope they are not all Srs so they can grow in the program.
You really nailed it.

I wanna dislike TJD. I really really do. But unfortunately, he continues to show he’s a pretty good dude
It seems their new coach has lit a fire under him. He is playing with much more effort this year.

SportsCenter highlighted the Coleman T on social and it's nice to see that the objective sports world a) thought the dunk was nasty b) thought the refs missed the and 1 and c) thought the T was a complete joke.
Also, after watching the slow motion replay of said play, TJD fouled Hawkins twice and the refs chose not to call either one.

Earlier I said that tech really wasn't in my top 5 reasons we lost the game. But I dont know. It's a 3 point swing in what was ultimately a 3 point game.

There’s a lot to be optimistic about going forward. We’ve really figured out the right defensive lineups and Goode already is having impact minutes. Get TSJ back soon and we should be really hitting our stride.

I’m less worried about the result of this game and more frustrated by the fact that if this team had consistently come out with the kind of intensity we saw today, they be about 22-4 and on their way to a #1 seed in the Tourney.

I thought the Illini played well and wish they would have given the same effort vs. Penn St. Today was a huge step in the right direction, IMO.

We were +6 on the road against the 2nd best team in the B1G without our leading scorer. I would hardly call this a game where we should’ve “taken care if business against a team we should beat”
Apologies, got distracted when typing the sentence you were quoting, and it makes sense you took it that way. You are absolutely correct. I meant it as time to regroup and beat teams like Minnesota etc

A "L" is a "L" is a "L".
This is a very young team with a "transfer" heavy starting 5, but they are way too inconsistent and hesitant when it really counts. Starting the season by beating Texas and UCLA showed how good they could be, but they never got back to that level of play consistently. Losing Skyy Clark no doubt hurt, but Epps has admirably stepped up.. I want them to go deep into the tournament, but something always winds up derailing them from closing out games. They're running out of time to get things "fixed". Sure hope they do.

The Illini didn't hit a 3 point shot (0-8) in the second half.
This game is a tale of two halves,we looked like world beaters in in the first half and not so much in the second half.At think we’re 6-6 from the line in the first half but missed bunch of free throws in the second.

Shooting lost us another game. Gallant effort by the guys, credit to them for that, but we missed wide open threes in the second half and a critical free throw. B10 refs are an embarrassment to the game. They gave IU 7 points in the first half with the bogus T on CH, missed a call and IU hit a 3 immediately after (don't recall exactly what it was but noted it at the time), and counted the last second first half shot that should not have counted (not completely sure on this one as I haven't gone back to watch the replay). Disappointing, hope we are rewarded in the tournament. We more than deserve it.
Exhibit A.....terrible T call on cohawk for NOTHING...

Exhibit B.....missed call on ball clearly going off Galloways leg in 1st half.....l

Exhibit C.....race Thompson clearly hacked cohawk on the arm and pushed him down which gave tjd an easy bucket at the end of the first half.......

That's just the 1st half and gave the loosiers at least 7 free points.....
Great game by the Illini ,especially with TSJ not available
Poor game by inept B$G refs once again...
It really really really really was.....

0-1 now , where will the Illini be at the end of this stretch of games.....

LETS GO ILLINI !!!!!!

You think we're going to be a 6 seed? We're more likely to be the 11.
Haha! Along the lines of what Hummel said, if we're an 11, the 6 seed is going to be screaming to high heaven about how they got shafted having to play us in the first round.

Was at the game (My first time at Indiana).... Tough loss.

The crowd was what I would describe as nervous. The Indiana fans around me started the game with enthusiasm, it waned, and didn't get rolling again until the final minute or so.

Embarrassing moment for me: On CoHawk's dunk to put us up 9, I saw a T called and thought it was on IU. I stood up and yelled: "Woooooo!!! Yeah!!!!" pumping my fist in the air. Then realized it was on Hawkins. Doh!

Only had a couple snide remarks from Hoosier fans, probably because of my bright orange hoodie. 😃 But overall, the experience was good (loss notwithstanding).

I told my buddies before the game we'd need 7 three's to win. We had 6 at half. Never got our 7th. RJs miss..... Man 'o man. Looked good from our angle. So hoping it would drop as walking out of there would have been soooo glorious. Oh well.
