At this point we know who this staff and team is. Best case scenario is get the young guys some tick (Lucas, Kipper, DJW) for the future as this staff is going to be gone. Thorne has been atrocious lately. Mav needs to be starting.

1-Abrams
2-JCL
3-Hill
4-Black
5-Morgan

Lucas, Finke, Kipper, DJW, and a little of Thorne.

I must be in the minority here but there were a lot of positives to be taken from the game that will help the team tremendously for the rest of the season.

1) TJL playing ahead of Tate in the 2nd half. Hope this continues.

2) Kipper getting tick. His presence will help the defense a lot. Hope this trend continues too.

3) Morgan playing more than Thorne. Thorne starting over Maverick hurts b/c we can play through the post to start a game, and Thorne is hopeless on offense, puts us in a hole. Maverick is really good from the post. Both are liabilities on defense though.

4) Tracy struggles again. Let's keep in mind he has not played on the road for two years. He struggled at Maryland and at Indiana. He'll get right, just needs to adjust. I have faith that he will.

5) This loss was not anything like the losses to WVU and Maryland. We played hard, and THERE WAS NO QUIT. Indiana hit lights out from 3 point land. Our perimeter defense isn't that great, but a lot of that is personnel.

6) As previously stated, no one had us for a W in this game. We got a really focused and hungry Indiana team coming off of three straight losses.

All in all, we are even par on the season. 10-3 non-conference was to be expected. 1-2 with losses at Maryland and at Indiana also to be expected. These next two home game are huge. I have faith. This team is improving.

A few games ago he took a bad step and I wondered if he tweaked something then. He kept playing so I didn't think about it after that. Now, I'm wondering if maybe something isn't right. His shots today were way way off.

A major factor that could help us is starting Mav over Thorne. Thorne missed what, 2 straight shots and a turnover and all of a sudden it's 8-0? Then 16-2? Start Mav, he is more likely to get a quick bucket to start or kick out. It ain't rocket science John.

I think there are some blanket statements made about our players and team that aren't totally accurate. Thorne is a good player, but just like everything else it depends on match-ups. Quick leaping big men which Indiana, FSU, and WVU had give us problems.

Kipper, TJL, and DJW need more minutes, especially against quicker teams. DJW didn't show much today but he had tools to create mismatches, like Kipper they both need more minutes to develop and exploit them.

Where do the minutes come from? TJL needs to get Tate's minutes and Kipper and DJW need minutes from reducing minutes from realigning minutes from the others in the rotation. Depending on the match-ups we can possibly go without a true center but go bigger at the 1-3 positions. I think we need to see Hill at the SG or possibly PG at times. We give up too much by having the combination of Tate, Abrams, and JCL at the guard positions.

Just for once can we go with Hill, Kipper, DJW, Black, and JCL(or Abrams or TJL). Someone mentioned playing players with high motors, I agree. Kipper, Hill, TJL, and Black seem to go hard all the time.

Another positive was for the most part we ran an offense even when we fell way behind. We just couldn't match Indiana's intensity. I truly hope to see more of TJL, Kipper, and DJW. That fade away by Kipper was sweet, kid has a lot of fight in him.

DING DING DING! Nail on the Head!

Plus has Thorne ever won a tip? Thorne starting over Mav is the 2nd biggest head scratcher on this team behind Tate playing over TJL. Hopefully both scenarios change so we can stop scratching our heads.

I agree that we couldn't match their intensity. And we were playing with considerable effort and intensity considering the circumstances.

I want to see them more too, but who comes out? Hill will obviously play 35+ minutes. JCL should be playing 30 minutes at the 2. Right now I think the weak link is Finke.

Everyone keeps saying to play Lucas more, but today really showed the dilemma Groce has at PG. Lucas makes some really good plays that Tate doesn't make, but he also makes some bad plays that Tate doesn't make. Turnovers leading to fast break points, missed FT's, 5 sec call, etc.

Lots been said already that I agree with. I think that many positives can be taken from this game.

I do think the Finke angle is interesting though. Perhaps IU presented a tough matchup for him, but he had a rough game. Couldn't track down many rebounds, clanged a couple shots, and picked up a couple dumb fouls when we were kinda-sorta trying to get back in it late. Could definitely see Michigan being a better matchup for him but you wonder if Kipper's possibly permanent entrance into the rotation could spell even less tick for Finke. Not so sure DJW showed much to warrant more time. Lost OG in the zone for a highlight reel dunk.

Coach Groce spoke of distractions before this game for the team to ignore coming in to this game.

Many said that this was common coach speech talk before a game. Maybe. Maybe not.

There seems to be a serious disconnect from practice vs game time minutes in evaluation from a Coaching perspective -Throw out the chalk board-get a new one and roll with these high level horses you have with a New Plan.

Agree with these points. For not seeing Kipper play much before, he looked pretty small matching up to the trees in the paint, but he never gave up.

No doubt. I thought Tejon looked bad in the first half, but the argument that he should have gotten more floor time in the non conference is a totally valid one.

Thought we played pretty well in the second half. Beat Michigan and we're back on track.

Flipping to glass half empty, we have some things to work with. And despite the tough start and flaws that IU continued to expose, we hung in there effort-wise. In a game we weren't going to win and that started so badly, the last 30 minutes were worth watching.

My opinion is that the pluses far outweigh the minuses. He also made some very nice passes, yes, missed a few FTs, but Tate is not in general even drawing those fouls during the game. Tate's pass at the end of the half to MF was low and away from the basket - pretty much the same affect as the 5 sec. call. One is a rookie mistake, the other bad execution by a senior. Net is they both lead to zero points.

I think TJL would by those things in about 2 games of real playing time. The turnover on the pass outside to JCL could also be partially JCL - he didn't continue on to come to the ball.

Couldn't watch the second half, it sounds like it was watchable. Surprised that DJ only got 4 minutes, particularly with Malcolm sitting so much of the first half. Agree with most posters and do not understand why Morgan does not start, although he got 22 minutes to Thorne's 13. Thorne is simply not the same player as last year. I don't know if that is a lingering injury or conditioning or other teams have learned to defend his moves. In any case, he hurts us when he is on the court.
