Tate's attorney Evan Bruno: This case is over today because Jaylon Tate never did anything wrong in the first place."
@WCIA3Bret
Bruno: "It’s not that there wasn’t enough evidence to prove his guilt; it’s that there was overwhelming evidence to prove his innocence."
@WCIA3Bret
Bruno: "This charge was based on nothing more than unsubstantiated college gossip." #Illini
Really, really glad to see this happen. Disappointed that stupid kids are stupid.
But mostly glad for JT, and not having to have this hang around his neck for the rest of his life.
Does anyone have an idea how much the Tate family will have paid to fight their way out of this?

No where close to what a 4 year scholarship with room,board, and stipend cost. What ever it was it was worth it. Not sure they will pursue civil suit if truely Tate was not involved in any way or contributed to the assault.
“I don’t know what happened, and if I and my staff don’t know ourselves what happened, we can’t ask a jury to find someone guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” Rietz said.
So much for the prosecutors don't proceed with cases unless they have good evidence pablum thrown out by several attorneys on this board...prosecutors proceed with garbage cases all the time...Brady v. Maryland is the most ignored case in any SA's office in any county in Illinois....this case was nonsense from Day 1 yet the experienced prosecutor dragged this kid through the mud and fortunately choked on the marginal evidence when Tates counsel rightfully rejected a plea agreement....good for Jaylon
That Rietz could say this, and yet up until this afternoon was intent on taking the case to trial just amazes me.

I am going to go easy on your question- Why would you ask that?
This family has been through hell and back- Time to quit dissecting this case.
As per usual, crickets from the national media on Tate getting cleared. Feel bad for him.
I won't go easy on your response. What is wrong with the question?
They didn't proceed.
None of the attorneys here said prosecutors don't charge nonsense with regularity.
