Kansas 34, Illinois 23 Postgame

My check to the Altmyer Fan Club is still in the mail.

But otherwise …

I have to check my math, but in the first eight quarters of football, we have given up more points against Toledo and Kansas than we did in 2022 against Virginia, Chattanooga, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Michigan —combined.

He has a lot of aspects to appreciate about his game and a lot of potential, but I didn't love the performance tonight. His OL didn't do him any favors but he needs to get rid of the ball.

Noticing a bit of a tendency to get happy feet and start climbing in the pocket if the play goes too long. He ran into some tackles that way.

That said he is playing pretty damn well overall and I'm glad we have him for 2 more season.

We were wildly unprepared for this game, that doesn't change based on this false comeback. This is on the coordinators (really not impressed with either side of the ball). Realistically the season now starts in West Lafayette on September 30, we'll be 2-2 (no we aren't beating Penn State). Take the next three weeks to figure out the team and plan for the rest of the season.

Walters' was a master of coaching run fit, we're back to giving up 6 yards per carry again. Kansas had 262 yards rushing on 6 yards a carry (Most of that was not Daniels) Bielema STILL hasn't developed an elite offensive line since his last year at Wisconsin.

It’s because he doesn’t have enough experience yet. He’s played in what like 3 or 4 college football games so far and he’s arguably our best player right now.
