I have done no research to back this up but I'm willing to bet that the majority of Horizon League POY winners were 2*/NR recruits.

Ray McCallum, Jr
Norris Cole
Gordon Hayward
Matt Howard

All were not

Beyond the personal issues that the incident has caused, Nunn is going to be losing one of his prime "earning" years by sitting out as a transfer. If Nunn is healthy, he has a window from today until some point in his 30's to bankroll his future. He will never get this year back. As other posters suggested, it might have not been a bad play to start earning in Europe and get the degree online.

Nunn is nowhere near the level of player who can right now "bankroll his future" through playing pro basketball in Europe. He can either play pro in lower level leagues in Europe (not much money) or play in the D-league for minimum money (avg. ~ 16K a year).

While what happened at UI has definitely hurt him, losing a year of college basketball in the process, his best option is by far staying in college, improving his basketball status and getting his degree. Oakland is not a bad place for Nunn to land. A smaller but very respectable Div. I school that has produced some talent in the past, providing a close university community without the pressure and media scrutiny of bigger Div. I programs.
