Nice, cool to see. Really hoping he can be a diamond in the rough type find or at least be a defensive stopper with an offensive niche.

Haha, looks like Jimmy Butler. According to my friend at St. Ed's, no one will outwork Kipper.

People (including Malcolm) had mentioned Jimmy Butler before when talking about Kipper, and now I see why he is the first player that comes to mind. He looks exactly like him... It's a little creepy.

Buff. League-ready body. He's a 5th year senior, right? If his game approaches his body, he'll be a major asset.

Wrong, he hasn't even played a minute of college basketball. Because of transferring, he will have 3.5 years left starting next January.

Edit: I may have misunderstood, you may have been talking about a 5th year senior out of high school. If so carry on, you are correct.

Yup, it's like he went to 5th year prep school, except it is to a B1G program for practice and training. He will be 20 years old when he starts play @ UI. Basically a redshirt freshman.

After the first few games of this year, I'm high on RS-freshmen:)

I wouldn't expect to hear them say anything other than "he's good." ;)

That said, having him redshirt and learn the defense will be huge, hopefully he takes full advantage and works on his shooting, ball handling, etc. One thing the staff has done very well is take advantage of red shirt time, hopefully that continues.

Finally have a red shirt guy on the roster to win most improved player award (I know about LaTulip). Kidding aside he definitely looks the part.

Who would play defense?

We aren't playing great D right now so another versatile big wouldn't hurt.

In all seriousness, Finke has definitely made improvements. He is moving his feet better and I think with another year with Fletcher, he'll be able to hold his position better and improve his rebounding. Rako has the length to be a good shot blocker.

Getting Kipper and Leron back will help with D as well. Kipper's size makes him a 3/4 right now.

New strength guy?

With Nichols now in the fold, let's beat UM -- win one for the Kipper.

Why would he be talking to Kipper then? Kipper no need strength coach. :D

I don't know, I know he isn't on the coaches page or anything but he was talking a lot to Tracy and Thorne and Leron at mizzou game. I hate to say this but he reminds me of Mark Eaton.

OK, who is the big guy talking to Kipper in the last pic. We sat ten rows behind the bench at Mizzou and this guy was around the huddle in a suit. Bigs coach awaiting a spot? He was as tall or taller than Big Mike.

Adam Fletcher, strength and conditioning coach.
